Other Stanford sports - BobK - 01-23-2021
A number of sports have now started in the Pac 12 of course all without Stanford. Some sports have Stanford teams starting in March. One mid February
A shame given these athletes are so entitled. So much so they can’t complete

As a result, the women's gymnastics program initially plans to conduct modified outdoor training activities that comply with the current restrictions.
IMO this Stanford policy of practicing outdoors by sports that have no business being outdoors in the middle of winter seems doomed to failure.

They have to relocate outside SCC to have any kind of season. They can't travel to a PAC-12 school (except Cal), return to Stanford, and then quarantine for ten days. That's not going to work. I don't get it. These Stanford sports are doomed to fail for the spring.
To house a team and staff in a hotel at about $100/night per room for two months is expensive. Maybe Coach Hambly for WVB is waiting for BobK to donate the funding.

Does that mean the WVB team can't travel to PAC-12 schools and return without quarantine? I couldn't find specific verbage about it in any news article.
I did find quotes which seem to indicate Stanford can practice indoors and can host other teams at Maples if the visiting team has Covid testing within 48 hours of entering SCC. Please correct it this is wrong.

Actually it was verbal this morning. So much still to learn. But yes 10 day quarantine still in effect

I thought I read that there was a exemption indicating you could leave quarantine for purposes of collegiate sports:
Exemptions from Mandatory Quarantine
- The following persons are required to quarantine, but may leave their home or place of quarantine solely for the activities specified in this section:
- Persons traveling solely for the purpose of work or participation in collegiate or professional athletic activities, provided they are in compliance with all applicable directives.

From another Staford related site:
3c, subheading iii has the quarantine exception for collegiate and pro sports as follows:
Persons traveling solely for the purpose of work or participation in collegiate or professional athletic activities, provided they are in compliance with all applicable directives.
Compliance with applicable directives is related to following the proper COVID testing procedures before arriving and/or leaving the Bay Area.

I presume that means that coaches, refs, and non-players must wear masks, and that the host team must make sure the other team & officials are aware of the requirements. Unfortunately, some Stanford players, some refs, and many of the opposing coaches are not following the directives.
