MGYM: STAN vs OK (ENDS IN A TIE) -
akiddoc - 03-12-2021
Stanford vs Oklahoma Saturday morning at 11 AM. Apparently Stanford will be in Norman for this meet. Will be televised on Fox Sports in the midwest and southeast. Also on Fox Sports Go, which is a streaming service I had not heard of until now. It can be used on mobile devices if you have Xfinity or DirecTV subscriptions. Supposedly.
If all of Stanford's guys are a go, it should be a great meet. Oklahoma is always the best coached team in the country. Stanford has the most talent.

So they end in a tie? Don't they have a tumble-off or tug-of-war to decide it?

Can someone interpret this result for us? A good sign, or a warning flag, or neither? What are the implications for our national championship prospects?

I believe Oklahoma is the top ranked team in the country, and considered to be the biggest threat to Stanford repeating its national title.

We are currently ranked fourth, but climbing.
By the way, it's Oklahoma, not OK State, as the thread title suggests.

The early season scores for Stanford were meaningless. Some guys had minimal pandemic training. Others were sitting out the season.
Now that everyone is back and Malone decided to compete this year, things are improving. Briones is not ready for prime time, and for some reason no one is doing well on floor, but we are in good shape to repeat.
Later in the season the scores are lower because the meets change format. Instead of six guys competing to give you 5 scores on an event, it switches to 5 guys competing to give you 5 scores. Today was 5 for 5.
We were away at Oklahoma. Scores are almost always lower for the visiting team than they would be at home.
We have the most talented team in the country. Oklahoma has a lot of no name guys who have been coached up to do one or two events really well. They have two all around national caliber guys. We have 5 or 6 guys with that kind of talent.
Oklahoma has always been exceptionally well coached. They are not a pushover.
Michigan and Nebraska are really good as well. Should be an interesting championship.
