NCAA Men’s BB Touney -

It’s always fun to watch. But my goodness there is a lot of truly bad offensive basketball out there.

And UCLA gets to play a 14-seed in its 3rd game.

So, Stanford beat 3 out of the top 32 teams this year (Bama, OSU, and UCLA).

Although the Big 10 stated the tournament with 4 more teams, it only has 6 left in the second round, with the PAC-12 has all 5 of its teams left.

Colorado played its best game of the season and were totally dominant over Georgetown. SC was generally in control v. Drake, and when things got congested they just tossed it to Mobley. UCLA has won two games, both fairly close and Johnny Zuzeng(?) has carried them. OSU, a 12, upset #5 Tenn, and Oregon didn't have to play VCU as the latter was taken down by Covid. All in all, an excellent showing by the Pac. I watched alot of games, and can only conclude we had the talent.....Too bad.
The pundits are falling all over themselves trying to explain why they under rated the Pac.

13 point loss for Illinois.

Makes me wonder if the women's tourney is going to have as many big time upsets. Given the greater parity in men's basketball I'm assuming no, but given Covid-life I still expect some fun upsets. As long as that does not include Stanford that works for me.
I'd be worried if I were UConn.

Out of over 20 million brackets submitted to the various tourney challenges, ALL ARE NOW BROKEN!!! It took just two days.

I still have USF with Russell and a now eligible KC Jones vs UCLA and Walton in my title game in my driveway. No dunking unless I bring a ladder and absolutely no palming the ball. Russell blocked a dozen hooks by George Miken in the semis.

I'm enjoying watching the Big Ten fall apart because my brother is a B1G fan and usually he sends me a text after the first two rounds along the lines of "the NCAA thanks the Pac-12 for its participation in this year's tournament" and boy am I giving it to him this year. Payback baby, payback

My brother attended Illinois (and it was my backup school). I had them winning it all in my brackets. Needless to say I'm more than eliminated and fighting for last place.

As did my son [attend]. As did I [winning it all]. As am I [more than eliminated].
And, as my son texted: "Clearly Stanford was hurt by playing in the powerhouse pac 12, while Illinois benefitted from playing in the cupcake big ten..."

If Oregon actually plays a decent second half against Iowa and advances to the Sweet 16, that narrative will really begin to have some merit.
Should Stanford, playing for more than two months on the road and competing in the rugged Pac-12, have been given an at-large bid?
I know the answer is no, but I can't help but wonder if many of those BigTen schools were really more worthy.

I have a degree from Illinois myself, and I have only ever rooted against their sports teams. Stanford or bust for me.
I love the fact that the B1G could be out of the Tourney by the end of the day today. Oregon up 10 over Iowa as I write this. Go LSU!

Oregon is up 93-77 late in the second half against number 2 Iowa.

I am beginning to believe those sports talk show types that are on air by 8AM Eastern to start blabbing all day long, need to learn to use their DVRs. Perhaps watch the Pac-12 games during the commercial breaks because the Oregon team I am watching is vastly superior to the Iowa team on the court.
You'd think Oregon was the 2 seed and Iowa was the 7 seed. Reminds me of another time in a different sport when Iowa was exposed on national TV as too slow and simply not on the same level as their Pac-12 opponent that day. ;)

Before we get too carried away, I am old enough to remember when a certain Pac-12 team was a number one seed who was run out of the gym by an 8 seeded UNC.

WE lost to both UNC (in 2000) and Alabama (in 2004) as 1 seeds, but while the Alabama loss was a 3 point loss, that wasn't final until Dan Grunfeld's last second shot missed, the loss against UNC was 60-53 in a game that wasn't that close (UNC shot .440, while we shot .353).
