Recognizing that he's from Germany and may have wanted to go back, I am still surprised that he didn't at least put his hat into the NBA draft. While it doesn't look like his prospects would be great, there is no real downside and you never know; sometimes players' stocks go up for mysterious reasons. Worst case, he can still sign abroad.

Good luck to Oscar! The team he signed with is currently at the top of the standings in the highest German basketball league. And the coach is John Patrick, who was a PG at Stanford form 1987-1991 under Monty. I wonder if that connection made a difference. (Also, maybe this is someone who should be on a short list to replace Haase).
I assume Stanford MBB has a few more departure announcements to come...

My guess is that his contract includes an "out clause" if he were to be selected in the draft.

Oscar's contract with the German team is just through the end of the season (ends in May) and he has made himself available for the NBA Draft in June. I'd imagine he wants to improve his stock by showing what he can do against professionals.
