Great news. They got this one right, and I loved Tara's short speech, crediting the team. That's why she's a great coach.

If ever there was a deserving year for Tara to win it, this was it. Congratulations to Tara and the entire WBB team. Now bring it home.

Terrific! This was richly deserved. So the Naismith people seem more perceptive than the AP folks when it comes to this decision.

AP pick was a joke. Congrats to Tara, who deserves the honor.

It's cool also to think that she won it the year that she got the all-time wins record, and not as a "career achievement" award. Many legendary coaches when they hit this stage in their careers are not doing their best work, some of them a tiny bit coasting on past achievements or notoriety. But not Tara. She's still at the top of her game, and this award shows it. Such sustained excellence is so impressive.

Great to see Tara get the recognition. Too bad I didn't see this before the game. Listening to the ESPN announcers, I thought the SC coach must have won it.

Hard to stomach the fawning. At game's end announcers actually sounded hurt, as if missing those point-blank shots was strictly the work of cruel fate and not the failure of the shooter(s) and the last-moment efforts of the winners. The superior team WON this game. SC found a way to lose it. Tough, yes. So is a lot about sports in general. And about life, for that matter.

It's obviously a lot easier for Arizona than us to find bulletin board material for motivation [particularly since Adia Barnes is apparently pretty good at creating her own...], but, if we were looking for some, I'm almost certain that, when Jim Nantz and Bill Raftery were promoting the Women's Final tomorrow during the second half of today's Houston/Baylor game, Rafftery paid tribute to Stanford's amazing coach...Trish van Devere!
[I guess if you can't be AP Coach of the Year, getting nominated for a Golden Globe will have to do...]
