Note that is NOT a football weekend. It's a bye week for Stanford. Perhaps they are sick of scheduling around an unknown kickoff time, or just want to eliminate an added uncertainty in what still may be an uncertain year.

i wonder if they let the Pac-12 commissioner know that we usually have our reunion weekend around those dates.

my understanding is that since this reunion could potentially have 2x the normal attendance (if it is an in-person event (the 2020 and 2021 reunions)) that they chose to have it on a non-football weekend

Highly unlikely that it would have twice as many in attendance. A lot of the people who would have had their reunion in 2020 will probably skip altogether, and even among the 2021 reunioners, the combination of uncertainty on the event (do you book a flight and cancel if it is a zoom reunion), plus some skittishness among some potential attendees, and I would expect even if it goes ahead, attendance will be depressed compared to a non-COVID year.

I was planning to attend my reunion in 2020, but once it was canceled I just figured I'd try to make it in 2025. My wife and son don't have a connection to Stanford (other than I), so we would look for other activities. So no football actually makes it less likely that I will attend this October. Plus the date doesn't even line up with the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival.
