Shouldn't the WNBA have more than 12 teams? And why on Earth do the Warriors not have one under their umbrella?
RE: WNBA draft -

Given the Warrior owner was once a Stanford WBB season ticket holder great question

If we get a WNBA team in the Bay Area, I'll be one of the first signing up for Season Tix -- get on with it, Warriors!!!

Before the pandemic, Lacob was probably hoping to fill Chase with events that make money.

The WNBA is overdue to expand. Ratings for TV this past summer were way up amid all the down ratings for many other sports. There are so many good players adding new teams would not dilute the talent pool. Way too many really good players can't make a roster now. I would be thrilled if the WNBA came to the Bay Area, especially if it was in San Francisco with the Warriors. Good luck to Kiana today and all the other hopefuls. This draft seems very up in the air about who is expected to go where.

I second the motion to expand the WNBA.
I already have a plan in my head for 4 more teams, so they could have 2 divisions of 4 teams in both conferences and expand the schedule to 40 games (4 games each against the 3 division rivals, 3 games each against the 4 non-division intra-conference teams and 2 games each against the 8 inter-conference teams)

Didn't there used to be a team in San Jose (ABL)?

Yep, the Lasers! Azzi played; we used to go to games.

Also, is that a Star of David necklace on Haley Jones?

Up here in Seattle we had the Reign, which was full of Stanford alums: Kate Starbird, Kate Paye, Christy Hedgpeth, and Naomi Mulitauaopele. I had season tickets from day 1 until they shut it down. It was a lot of fun! I don't recall any Stanford players on the WNBA Storm roster, but we love Sue Bird!

Pretty sure that's Jenna Brown.

WABA with the Lasers. But then another local league. The National Women’s Basketball League with the SJ Spiders
RE: WNBA draft -

Oh my, the Spiders! Remember going to that little gym and getting those free Spiders t-shirts? I don't think I still have mine. That did not last long. One season? Two?

I very much enjoyed watching Stanford WBB this season. For me the sport was played at a very high level. But sometimes honesty is better than being politically correct. Many basketball fans do not have an interest in the WNBA.
Some years back the LA Sparks were planning to declare bankruptcy. From the reports I read the WNBA loses on average $10million/year. The main reason a failing organization is remaining in business is because it is subsidized by the NBA. What would be the motivation for investors who care about profit/loss to expand the league?

$10 million/year is not that much for a league that was under-promoted. Last year's season showed us what is possible if you start to do things the right way. The WNBA is ripe for growth right now. If I could afford it, I'd absolutely invest.

That makes more sense, though I swear she looks like Jones in the video. Jenna's grandfather Herb Brown is Jewish.

And, I didn't realize that her great-uncle (Herb's brother) is none other than Larry Brown.

Regarding Jenna, am I the only one who thought she was mysteriously front and center in the majority of the post-celebrations, team photos, etc. after the win against Arizona? My wife chimed in, "Who the hell is that in the middle of the photo, holding the trophy?"
