MGYM finals in progress on BTN Stanford wins NCAA title! - akiddoc - 04-17-2021

Stanford just put up a great set of vaults, but Oklahoma had the highest set of floor scores of any team this year.

Michigan star Bock sat on the pommel horse. That is considered a fall. 1.0 penalty. Michigan's pommel score was still higher than Stanford managed yesterday.

Disappointing Pbars for Stanford. Malone and Sun should be putting up 14.5's.

Terribly p bars set for Stanford 67.132. That more than gives back the margin from bock sitting on the horse.

They just mentioned on the telecast that Stanford could not train together in their home gym until March 15. Didn't realize it was that late. Good explanation for the issues in consistency this year.

Same data. On my link just click the event tabs above and you can see the individual rankings on each event.

Oklahoma is in really good shape here. If they continue what they are doing they will win. They sat out several guys yesterday and they are coming through big time today.

Two events to go, just over a 1 point lead, going to need some closers!

1 point lead but with pommel, our lowest scoring event left. Not optimistic.

Pommel started out well but got progressively worse

One event to go, trailing by .335. Their high bar vs our rings. Glad women’s basketball team won, this is nervous stuff...

But we exceeded expecatations. Down by 0.335 to Oklahoma. We're on rings, they're on H bar. We've been averaging 68.038 on rings this season, Oklahoma 66.15 on H-bar.

It's down to Stanford and OU. Michigan's Bock is a disaster today in his last collegiate meet. My son is watching with me (the one who competed against Bock) and he said after a couple of events that Bock didn't look right. He predicted a couple of falls and sure enough....

Yep, all but one team so far has scored higher on rings so far, so there’s hope yet.

Any chance him skipping the last two events  a couple days ago was due to a slight injury.

Up by 2.4 with just 2 routines left!

All right now! Another national championship!

It is! Make room for more hardware!! The team delivered its highest score of the season in the finals. That's a great, great performance.

Alright I vote that counts as two titles to make up for last year.

Brody Malone is already right up there with the greatest Stanford athletes, for him to post a 14.366 with the AA and team title on the line is just remarkable. He’s never not been the best...

RE: MGYM finals in progress on BTN Stanford wins NCAA title! - BostonCard - 04-17-2021

And there was much rejoicing.  We beat Oklahoma by 3 points and Michigan by 4.  Malone had the best all-around results.

All right now!

Malone, Briones, Gunther and Riley really delivered on rings. When you are exhausted at the end of a meet and you have to do rings at the end, it is really difficult. The other Stanford guy is a rings specialist so that was his only event. Even though his 13.666 was the lowest on the team, it is a good score.
