Thanks for this.  I’ve visited at both Normandy and Ardennes. In addition to be deeply moving, they were quite informative. The folks running the sites do a nice job of helping you understand the why and how of them.

God bless those who served especially Uncle Steve, shot down over France, my Field Artillery dad and my grandfather serving in the Black Watch Regiment in WW1 trenches.

I visited Verdun a very long time ago, and it still gives me chills. Normandy is incredibly moving as well, but Verdun was the one that really did it to me.

Gettysburg and the small Presidio San Francisco Cemetery choke me up. As does the Coast Guard Memorial in Vierville, down the beach from Omaha.
