So what top prospects are we still in play for? We’ve discussed Kiki Rice extensively in the past. If we miss on her as expected, any international players? Not sure who on the list we’d be favorited to sign still? Maybe this ends up being a class of 2 or possibly 3.
Hoping for Juju Watkins and/or Chloe Briggs in 2023. Two elite guards. Not sure other than Rice in ‘22, who is left.

Worth noting that the Hulls have an extra year of eligibility, so they could decide to come back after next year. I assume that Lexie Hull would be drafted by the WNBA, but Lacie Hull might benefit from coming back for another year.

Yes, thanks for reminding us about Brown. We have three juniors, each of whom will have an extra year of eligibility, and could come back. I am guessing that for the sake of roster management, our coaching staff will want to get at least one more recruit for 2022 (which would mean one of the three players taking advantage of their extra eligibility). Of course, the player(s) would have to be willing to do so.
The following year, we will have four seniors (plus any holdover from this year), but I assume Haley Jones will be WNBA bound. Prechtel could also conceivably work up to the WNBA. Belibi and Jump could be major contributors if they stayed a fifth year.
Then, the Brink, Emma-Nnopu, and van Geetenbeek class will be the last one with a potential extra year due to COVID-19. Again, Brink will almost certainly be a high WNBA pick, so one or both of the other two might conceivably stay a fifth year.
The next few years will give the coaching staff some flexibility. However, as with the situation with Wilson and Carrington, it might also cause some roster management headaches.

Demetre no longer participating in USA trials.
The competition at the center position does not look overwhelmingly strong, so despite being two years younger than many of the candidates, Betts has a strong chance.

Seems odd Demetre would pass on this opportunity? Anyone have any insight. Is MD still in season? Maybe a conflict with her high school team? I was curious to see if she would make the final cut. My guess is Betts will be on the team.

Betts has some trials pictures on her twitter. There is a team picture shot with everyone standing next to each other. Betts looks much taller than any other player. She is standing next to or near 6'5" Lauren Ware and 6'5" Amari Deberry. Betts is listed at 6'7" but looks more than 2" taller than both of those players.

Andrea Hayden, who was the Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach for the Minnesota Twins baseball team (the first woman to hold the position), is leaving her position to become the S&C coach for the Stanford WBB team. Apparently she was well liked in the Twins Organization and is a significant addition to the woman’s BB team at Stanford. From all indications, she will be a big contributor to the future success of the WBB team!

Previous espnW ranking: Unranked
Stines' game always had a strong foundation of fundamentals, even before she transferred from Troy High School to Orangewood Academy. She is a playmaker who knows how to get the ball inside and is a leader who makes her teammates better. She is poised on the floor, even against heavy defensive pressure.
The 5-10 Stines sees the floor extremely well and is effective off of pin down screens and staggered screens, as well as out of the pick-and-roll. Early on, her perimeter shooting needed to be more consistent. Her consistency and her range are no longer in question; she proved that at Boo Williams against a competitive schedule.
Defensively, Stines understands angles well and uses her frame and length to pressure the basketball. Off the ball, she is crafty and intelligent, and she navigates screens and defends cuts very soundly. Pac-12 schools like Colorado, Stanford, Utah and Washington are among the teams recruiting her.
