Football Tuesday presser - Spiny_Norman - 09-14-2021

Coach Shaw's Tuesday presser is available for replay here -

Rickey Miezan and Tanner McKee also talk to the media.

Injury notes - Tucker Fisk is dinged up. He might play vs. Vandy or they might hold him out for a week. Ethan Bonner will also be out this week, but might be back for UCLA.

Stanford's depth chart shows no other updates except that ILB is Jacob Mangum Farrar OR Levani Damuni.

Any details on Bonner?
Does anyone think he's out due to anything other than Covid?  85% . . . smh.

And on that topic, wth is up with the Saints?

RE: Football Tuesday presser - SamuelMcF - 09-14-2021

I definitely think it's Covid, but if so his roommates would have also not made the trip due to contact tracing, you'd think. That said, I have no idea who his roommates are, and it seemed like all the other seniors - his classmates, presumably one or two of whom he lives with - made the trip.

I'm not going to speculate, but I'm also not very worried. I've not been impressed by Bonner, especially in covering deep routes. He's been burned multiple times for long gains and TDs in his limited appearances.

RE: Football Tuesday presser - terry - 09-14-2021

I thought Manley was an adequate replacement for Bonner, so far as I could tell.

RE: Football Tuesday presser - chrisk - 09-14-2021

Shaw referred to Bonner’s situation as an injury.

It's not covid.

Yes. It's a legit injury that the coaches hope he's back from for next week. Bonner was with the team at today's practice. It's not COVID.

(I'd also be a lot more careful before coming to that particular conclusion, and I certainly wouldn't throw it out there so lightly, but that's just me...)

In other injury news, Shaw said today that Fisk will make the trip but is still questionable...

If you were paying attention, you'd know that I wasn't the one who raised the Covid-Bonner connection, which is why I asked if anyone believed it was anything else.  And whether or not Bonner is a Covid casualty, 85% is smh-worthy.  Really.

And one other thing: I attach almost no stigma to Covid now - especially since we do not know who is/is not vaccinated. Do you?

Admittedly, I don't pore over every post and thread on this board, so yours was the first I'd seen that moved beyond trying to connect some dots between two seemingly far-flung points, and went directly to drawing a straight line from one to the other, in pen.

The most important thing when it comes to this particular situation is that there is no connection. I'm glad we could clear that up.

Beat Vandy.
