Football jet lag -

Two weeks ago the team traveled to Dallas--central time zone--on
Friday for a Noon central/9 am Pacific kickoff.
This week the team traveled to Nashville--also central time zone--on
Thursday for a 7 pm central/5 pm Pacific kickoff.
So was the extra day at the game site a lesson learned from the Dallas debacle? Some other reason?

well the flight time from San Jose to Nashville is 4 hours and 23 min, to Dallas 3 hours and 4 min, which I'm sure must somehow be the driving factor to move up a day...

The Friday trip was a change from past trips to Central or Eastern TZs as far back as I can remember. So it looks like their going back to the old plan, which I think is smarter.

I'm kind of surprised that no one has already mentioned [ or, at least, I haven't seen it mentioned] that Shaw actually addressed this question at some length at the Season Ticket Members pre-season dinner a few weeks ago. In short, as I recall, he basically said that they had tried a few different approaches in the past -- including flying back East earlier to become "acclimated" -- and they all proved to be problematic in some way or another for early games. One thing he mentioned is that the players tend to sleep on the plane. Also, I think he said that their experience had been that players actually seemed ore tired the second morning at the game location than the first. As a result, he said this time [for the KSU game] they were going to try to "acclimate" to a certain extent at home by shifting schedules some at Stanford, but not worry about playing the next day after arrival.
As or an afternoon/evening game back East [or central], time zone difference really shouldn't be an issue.

If I'm not mistaken, it was also mentioned this week that the coaches are going to do some recruiting out of TN. Shaw is watching a game on Friday night in TN and others heading to nearby states like GA and returning early on Saturday.
