Cardinal currently in second after finishing at +3.  The other teams that have finished are Virginia at +13 and Michigan at +16.

Geaux Cardinal!

Stanford in the lead after round 1 at +3. Already into round 2 and increasing their lead

Heck uncharacteristically has already made two double bogeys today.

She missed last week's tournament with a non-Covid illness. She may not have her stamina back yet. 36 holes in one day over a tough course will really drain you.

Appears that they ran out of daylight before the 2nd round was completed. Stanford did make it into the clubhouse and leads Texas by 2 shots. However Texas still has 3-6 holes remaining in round 2. Stanford and Texas have separated themselves from the rest of the field.

Rose Zhang is T2 after a 2 under 70 and Aline Krauter is T6 after an even par 72.

It's a loaded field that includes the following top teams (per the USA Today Golfweek rankings):
2. Oregon
3. South Carolina
4. Michigan
6. Duke
10. Virginia
12. Florida
13. Texas
14. Stanford
16. USC

Stanford is finished and looks to have wrapped up another tournament win and likely another individual win for Rose Zhang. They sit at +15 and the closest team still on the course is 13 strokes behind. Rose Zhang rallied after going bogey-double bogey on 2 & 3 to birdie four of the next six holes. She currently sits at -4, 2 shots clear.

Aline Krauter also had a strong showing and looks to have a Top 10 finish. The rest of the team played OK but not great.

RE: Women's Golf in the Windy City - oldalum - 10-05-2021

We finished +7 on the day, +14 for the tournament, which we are going to win easily: 8 shots ahead of Virginia which finished at +22. Texas is in third place and still on the course, but at +27, they have no chance of getting anywhere near us.

Zhang finished -4 for the tournament and is currently in first place for medalist honors: the next two golfers are at -2 and -1 and have 3 and 6 holes left to play respectively and need some birdies to catch up. Aline Krauter finished at +4 and is currently tied for sixth, a terrific performance for her. Heck improved from her 81 yesterday to a 76 today. Hope she recovers her usual form soon.

Given the rankings of our players, why is the team only ranked #14?
Presumably after two tourney wins, this one quite dominating, that will change?

Rankings in the fall season need to be taken with a grain of salt. Small amounts of data.

They only had one tournament under their belt and only 2 or 3 other quality teams were there. After this one I expect them to jump up quite a bit. Not only was it a solid win, but it was against a very deep field with several top 20 teams. Also, they did it with two of their best players (Heck and Ye) playing far from their best.

They play at home at the end of next week and I expect them to tear it up and serve notice, kinda like they did last spring when they hosted Pac-12s and NCAA Regionals (which they won by 30 strokes)
