New TreeCast is up, with something for just about everyone! The show hit Pac-12 Men's Basketball Media Day this week and caught up for a 1-on-1 with HC Jerod Haase, who looks at the lessons learned from last season and his first thoughts on the year ahead. Plus, as Stanford Football heads to Pullman, CB Kyu Blu Kelly takes us through his season so far, how much coordination the secondary has to play with, and why he's hyped to face the Cougs. Plus, injury latest (including timelines!) on Tucker Fisk and John Humphreys.
Link below. Enjoy!

Troy - was transfer impact a topic of discussion at Media Day?
I noticed that three 1st team All Conference players from last year (James Akinjo, Timmy Allen and Remy Martin) have transferred out for this season (to Baylor, Texas and Kansas respectively). Or is that just the nature of college hoops nowadays? I also noted that Stanford is the only team in the conference with no incoming transfers. And it appears that every other team in the P12 will be starting 1, 2 or 3 transfers.

A bit, yes. Altman talked about it, and it's a bigger subplot for some teams than others (ASU, UW in particular)....but NIL & whether the Pac-12 can keep up its momentum from last year's Tourney seemed to be the day's two biggest topics overall.

The new mantra, accept transfers or die.

Really glad you were able to get Coach Haase 1x1 in person, Troy. However, his answers were uninspiring at best and highly concerning at worst. The strength of this team is "our culture" and "our togetherness"? The biggest lesson he learned from last year is "empathy"? What bunch of touch-feely goo-goo gibberish. And it sounds like he needs to rely heavily on his incoming freshmen to perform like veterans to have a successful season because of all of the losses from last year's rotation.
To say that this doesn't give me a warm fuzzy about the upcoming season is an understatement. Smells a lot like another season of Mediocrity at Maples, and if I'm right then it needs to be Haase's last one. He's clearly a great recruiter but he hasn't delivered results that come anywhere close to matching the talent he's brought in the door.

I'm not sure I'd go this far, but here's an interesting article that shows the value of transfers:
