Niners had some talks with Philly about Ertz in the off-season because they play a 17 game schedule while Kittle plays a 10-12 game. They absolutely knew that because he plays so hard and extends plays that they needed another target in Shanahan’s O when he would be hurt. Didn’t work out and now safeties can cheat a bit toward the WR’s. Without Kittle the great FB has more receiving responsibility and so the O is a bit out of sync.

Some comments on the Athletic's story about this say that a traded player isn't eligible to play a second game in the same game week. So, no.

I picked up Ertz for my fantasy team when Kittle got hurt. He contributed a TD yesterday and was hoping he could play Sunday and add more stats to his totals. 

However it's against league rules (CBA) for a player to play twice in one week.

I wonder how they define "twice in a week" since most of the eagle and bucs played "twice in a week" (Sun and Thur) and most Monday night game participants play twice in a week (Mon and Sun) and the Dec Saturday game participants play twice in a week (Sun and Sat)

maybe it is you cannot play for two teams in a week

if so then you could play Mon, get traded on Tues and play again on Thurs for your new team....if that happened would you get an extra paycheck if you ended up playing 18 regular season games...

Yes, you could.

You would not play an extra game because of that scenario. Your old team's game was basically moved later, from the normal Sunday slot to Monday. Your new team's Thursday game was moved earlier from Sunday to Thursday. So you're playing games unusually close together, but not an extra game.

The scenario that could cause an extra game is if you're traded when your old team hasn't had it's bye week yet and your new team already has had a bye. I don't know what the CBA says about that.

McCafffrey to the IR after already missing a couple weeks.   3 more weeks now.   He tried to test it on Wed but had to shut it down the rest of the week.  Sounds like he may have tweaked something and reset his recovery.

Soloman Thomas played by far the best game I've seen him in as a pro today. A sack, several hurries, tackle causing a fumble (by Bridgewater I think), etc. Looks quicker.

Bailey got a punt blocked today. Not sure if it was his first career blocked punt.

Sherman got hurt last Thursday.

Mills had a terrible day

Schultz had a decent receiving day for the Cowchips.


Also, there was a trivia during the Cleveland-AZ game... They mentioned that Mayfield vs. Murray was the second time that 2 #1 overall first pick QBs from the same school faced each other... Who was the first pair?

The obvious answer to us is Plunkett vs. Elway!
