Twitter seems convinced that Terry had recurring personal issues that kept him away from the organization far too much to take a chance on keeping him. Hopefully things will work out OK for Terry.

He's left the team on multiple occasions for unspecified "personal reasons" which is the motivation for waiving him. He played well in the G League last year when he was available but was absent almost the whole year; his on-court performance isn't the issue. Still has another $3.3 million coming to him regardless of what happens now.

Oof, as a Mavs fan and a Stanford fan, this sucks doubly. The Mavs have a new coach and GM this year, and they clearly weren't interested in waiting for Terry to get back in the game.
I follow the Mavs pretty closely, and I haven't seen any speculation as to what's been going on. Hopefully Tyrell lands on his feet and ends up with another NBA team.
In other nba news, Chasson Randle got released by the Suns today. He was on a training camp contract. Randle has been picked up mid-season the last couple of years, so there's still a chance he ends up back in the NBA.
