Wow, Cal had a 17-10 lead over Oregon in the fourth quarter and Oregon came back to win it, sealing it when Cal couldn't score on fourth and goal from the 2. They had three shots from the three yard line and couldn't punch it in.

Incredible final sequence. Somehow reminiscent of our game vs. Oregon, with the difference that there was a PI penalty on 4th down that gave us another shot; and McKee made good on it. Then the OT victory.
SDSU survived vs. San Jose State in double overtime.

Not sure this merits its own thread - since it’s about mid season moves, I’ll put it here:

Watching Texas-OSU at the moment. The announcers are indulging in a full-on Heis-man hype for Bijan Robinson, who they are constantly comparing to Reggie Bush. Nothing against Robinson, but that kind of hype never happened for our #5 in 2015.
Texas was up 17-3 and driving after an interception, then gave up a pick 6 with 5 minutes and change to go in the first half. Instead of going up 24-3 at the half, the score is now 17-10, and the Longhorns just went 3-and-out. Cowboys have a shot to tie it up before intermission.

Sark and the Longhorns implode once again. After leading 17-3 in the late first half, Texas was outscored 29-7 during the rest of the game. And once again, the Heis-man-hyped Bijan Robinson was outrushed by the top runner from the opposing team. 32-24 Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Scott Frost's days in Nebraska are probably numbered. They lost to Minnesota 30-23 today after a series of miscues, including failing to score with first and goal from the six (including three tries from the 1-2), a missed 27-yard field goal, and giving up the safety.

LSU, leading by a TD, just intercepted Florida with 2 minutes remaining. A reprieve for Orgeron? We shall see what this means if the Tigers can hang on in the final minutes.

Yep. I remember when he was the hot item coming out of UCF. Little different comp level. I think Lincoln has to be a fairly tough place to recruit these days.
BTW- is Wilcox still THEGUY. Remember when he was going to lead Cal to run roughshod over Stanford. Well…..
Tough job.

Unfortunate for Frost. Nebraska has played three ranked teams in the last four games and has lost by a TD (Oklahoma), a FG (Michigan State) and a FG (Michigan). Conceivably, they could be 6-2. They were in every one of those games, but could not finish. But that's football.

Frost will definitely be back next year (close losses, perceived uptick in recruiting) while Orgsron needs to basically win out to save his job (somehow he has close to zero goodwill despite winning a natty).

First ten minutes of Georgia-Kentucky. The Wildcats look legit. 0-0 with a series of punts so far. Still early days.
RE: Week 7 other games -
Austroturf - 10-16-2021
After 20 minutes, Georgia appears to be tightening the screws on Kentucky. 14-0 with ten minutes remaining in the first half. What looked even at the beginning has shifted clearly in favor of the Bulldogs after the last two possessions. Kentucky can do no damage on offense, while Georgia moves at will against the Wildcat defense.

Elsewhere in the Pac-12, I will be curious to see what happens in the UCLA/Washington game. UW is slightly favored at home, and if they win, it augurs for them being a tough out. A loss, on the other hand, will mean that UW will have a losing record when they come to Stanford in a couple weeks.
Also interested in ASU/Utah. ASU beat us handily last week, but they are 1 point dogs at Utah. Being conditioned on many years of frustration against Utah, few of us think we have much of a chance, but there is a difference between the chance against a struggling Utah team and a chance against a Utah team that is getting its act together.

Frankly, I thought Iowa was a shaky top 5 team. Their win against PSU was a statement; but so far, that has been it this season. They "only" managed a 10 point victory over lowly Colorado State in week 4. Not sure what justified the #2 ranking.
Meanwhile, the Georgia D looks lethal. Leading 24-7 in the 4th quarter. Kentucky has been challenged to move the ball; and when their last drive stalled in the red zone, their FG was blocked.

UGA starting to get healthier. still down starting QB and 2 starters at WR plus 2 or 3 starters in the secondary. crowds have really been amped up and loud against Arkansas and Kentucky.

UCLA finishes off Washington 24-17 in a game that really wasn’t that close. UCLA outgained UW 420-267 (237-83 on the ground). UCLA’s issue was they were just brutal on third down (3-12), compared to 9-14 for UW.
