#4 MWP hosts #3 USC today 1PM - M T - 10-23-2021
Stanford MWP (#4) hosts #3 USC today (Saturday) at 1PM.
It is an outdoor event, which I believe is free. Weather looks to be about 66F and cloudy or partly sunny. If you've never been, one set of stands has full sun while the other (usually more crowded) is completely shaded.
Stanford hosts #14 UCI at 1PM Sunday. (Sunday may be windy and rainy. About half the seats are under a high cover, but blowing rain might get anyone wet)
Not too much going on for Stanford today, so why not catch a water polo match?
It looks like both of the weekend games will be streamed, but it is much better in person.

Stanford was up 9-6 but couldn’t hold on losing 15-11

Frustrating.... 3-3 at the end of one. It was 6-5 Stanford at the half. Stanford was up 9-5 2.5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. But then USC had a run of 3 goals in a couple of minutes, making it 9-8. It was 11-10 at the end of the 3rd.
But Stanford never scored in the 4th. USC got its first lead of the 2nd half with 5 minutes to go, 12-11. Then 2 more USC goals made it desperation time for Stanford with 3 minutes to go. Stanford replaced the goalie with a field player, but the shot didn't go in. Stanford got two rebounds to extend their chances, but still didn't get a goal. Once USC got the ball, it was over. They played keep away before scoring in the unprotected goal.
In the entire game, there were only 4 exclusions on USC and 2 on Stanford. That seems very low to me. I didn't agree with a late exclusion on Stanford that lead to one of the critical 4th quarter goals by USC.
It appeared that Stanford kept trying to feed the guy in the hole, but couldn't get the ball to him, and the guy guarding him didn't get excluded. Otherwise, Stanford appeared to be rather static. USC seemed to have more motion. They also had some long shots that the goalie didn't react to.
But, it was a nice day (the clouds kept the sun from being oppressive) and there was a good crowd. Yeah, I found out about the reunion weekend when I got on campus. But, other than tennis, there wasn't much in the way of sports on campus today.
