Louisville vs Arizona should be a good one and of interest to Stanford fans, because:
- both lost to Stanford in last season's NCAA tourney, Louisville in the Elite 8 and Arizona in the national championship
- both lost the heart and soul of their team to the WNBA, Dana EVANS for Louisville and Aari McDONALD for Arizona

I expect big things out of Van Lith this year for Louisville. Too bad someone out west couldn't keep her home and in the Pac-12.

These top-level matches between P12 and other conferences will strongly influence the RPI (or whatever it is they are using now).
I'll be cheering for Arizona.

Louisville leads Arizona 9-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter.
Both teams are struggling offensively, obviously missing Aari McDONALD (Arizona) and Dana EVANS (Louisville) who moved on to the WNBA.
Well, things starting the heat up as Cate REESE hits back-to-back 3s to put Arizona up 23-18, right before media timeout with about 4+ minutes to go in the 2nd Quarter. She is currently 3-for-3 from beyond the arc - that outside salvo is of immense proportion, especially coming from their 6'2 PF (reminds me of what PRECHTEL did in the Elite 8 against this same Louisville team).

Arizona ahead of Louisville 25-22, at the end of the first half.
Canadian senior national team starting PG Shaina PELLINGTON, Bendu YEANEY and Oregon transfer Taylor CHAVEZ are running the point for Arizona by committee, but they are just missing the explosiveness of Aari McDONALD.
However, I am very impressed with the suffocating defense of Arizona. They also showed this during their monumental upset win over UConn in last year's Final Four and their near upset of Stanford in the national championship game.

Arizona hanging on to a one point lead 41-40 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
PELLINGTON is trying hard to create in their halfcourt offensive set and is actually able to penetrate the lane but unable to finish in her layups. She has this propensity to hang in the air when she shoots her layups but doesn't use the backboard.

The FT discrepancy is eye-popping.

Okay, the same foul called on UA at one end to send UL to the line to tie it does not get called in the very next play. Game in a nutshell.

Arizona 61 Louisville 59. Mission accomplished.

And we will have to play against five Arizona players this year instead of one. When Transfer Portal Coleman is able to go four strong quarters, she will be a force to recon with. Also, Reese seems to have practiced her threes. Adia has this team playing as aggressive as last year. Nice to see them beat Louisville, a #22 over a #6.

5'7" Van Lith didn't have a very impressive stat line, save one thing.
4-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0 A, 3 TO, 0 Stl, 7 Reb, 11-12 FT

It's Arizona's stifling defense that's causing utter confusion on Louisville's offensive rhythm. However, with that, VAN LITH's physicality with the ball in her hands is resulting in fouls by the opposing side, thus, her frequent trips to the line.

I wasn't impressed by either team. Play was sloppy and both teams showed poor shooting. Also, the officiating was terrible.

The early season games are often rough, but the stronger teams destroying weak teams by 30+ points will hide a lot of deficiencies. I am impressed that these two schools had the courage to play a tough opponent in the first week.
The Pac-12 will continue to benefit from this quality win for the rest of the year. It may have not been pretty, but it was sweet for the conference to get an ugly win rather than an ugly loss.
