Transitive rule: Oregon State beat us 35-14 (in Corvallis).
Cal beat the Beavers 39-25 on Nov. 1 in Berkeley.
[And suffered a COVID depleted loss @ARIZ 10-3 on Nov. 8]
So... Cal will beat us 42 to 13, only because the game is in PA.

I could not imagine anything nicer than a McKee-led trouncing of the Bears. May it happen. But I am stuck with a 2019 feeling right now, one where Stanford jumps out to a one TD lead, then is afflicted with offensive rigor mortis in the 2nd half as the Bears score two late TDs to beat us down the stretch. And I don't even think we'll get that late FG to go up again before relinquishing the lead with less than 2 minutes to play. Bears by 7. Yes, my confidence is low right now. I have horrific visions of Garbers cutting through our line on both designed QB runs and pure scrambling plays, while our defense is out on the field far too long and gets gassed late in the game. Good-bye Axe!

A realistic prediction, for sure. Thing is, Big Games are not at all as weird, quirky, and unpredictable as the popular "throw-out-this-year's-record" stereotype wants us to think. Over the decades, the game has gone generally according to form. This is the year of the weenie, unfortunately. A more complete team that is more tenacious than Stanford, I fear. I think our boys just want to get this season over with. It's why I shudder thinking of next week.

Maybe Muir tolerates another 4 win season in 2022, but if Shaw takes $8M+ in 2022 for just 4 or 5 wins, then there is nowhere to go. He's done.

At age 63, Walsh was done coaching. He returned to the 49ers in management ranks.

He already is head coach for life (at least, the life of Stanford football). You think I'm kidding?

He's not going to survive continued 4-8, 3-9 type seasons. He will survive a couple more of them if he chooses to.
As far as this year's Big Game is concerned I think if McKee plays it will be a close one. Unfortunately based on our performances against Wazzu and Washington, I'm not optimistic about our ability to win the close ones.

It is indeed sad when the most pessimistic prognosticator this game, Phogge, was not only the winner, but was still too optimistic for the reality that came crushing down on the Cardinal. I mean, he thought Stanford could score 17 points. To be fair, so did I. But only he somehow figured our D would give up 40+ to the Bears. Wow.
