Kind of weird that they would have a tournament where they are the most likely teams to meet up when they have a scheduled game between the two later on in the season (or vice versa?).

Watching Uconn/SC. One think Uconn does REALLY well is push in transition. South Carolina wants a slower pace and instead of succumbing to that pace, Uconn is up and down the court so fast. 11 fast break points in the first 6 minutes of the game.
I wish we would try similar tactics when playing teams that want to grind out it out and be very physical. Push in transition or change up defenses to speed up the pace of play.

Agree. We dribble too much instead of passing like U Conn does. They screen a lot too, so they are able to get shots off. They have good shooters that can create for themselves too.

Agree they pass, not dribble AND do NOT wait for 1/2 court offense but take advantage of the fast break. We need to do that more frequently. Hope first and foremost Haley Jones is healthy (and everyone else too).

Both teams spread the floor and pass the ball so well. No hesitation. They both are able to get the ball inside. We should be getting the ball into Cam more often.

Agreed. I think Cam could be an All American this year if we utilized her like we should and she stays out of foul trouble. She is so talented.
Interesting game. Uconn looked incredible early on. South Carolina looked incredible in the 2nd half. Two elite teams.

Stanford fans can scout 2 future opponents right now. Oregon vs. South Florida on ESPNU.
Oregon playing without Sabally, Paopao or Endiya Rogers.

I can just imagine the forthcoming Stanford match already penciled in the minds and hearts of Staley and her players, especially Aaliyah BOSTON.
At least, Stanford still has several difficult hurdles (#3 Maryland, #4 Indiana, #16 Tennessee, #23 South Florida) to leap through before that rematch. Hopefully by then, Tara and her team would have settled in on their most effective combinations/rotation.

UConn showed a vulnerability today - lack of size. Aside from Nelson-Ododa, UConn only uses 2 other forwards and neither of them were very effective (Edwards and Juhasz, a grad transfer). UConn was successful when the game was being driven by the guards. But once Aaliyah Boston stopped jacking up 3s and moved down low, SC started to dominate. Boston moving away from the perimeter created more space for SC's guards too. SC also improved its ballhandling a lot from the 1st half to the 2nd. 11 TOs in the 1st half, 3 in the 2nd. They deserve that #1 spot.

Geno, per ESPN (about Bueckers):
"I don't think she was any good today, to be honest with you," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said.
Poor choice of words to lead with. He goes on to explain, but wow.

UConn was held to 3 points in the fourth quarter (they were out scored 16-3). I’m sure they will be fine, but I’m guessing the Boneyard looks more despondent than this site after the Texas game. Azzi Fudd played 10 minutes and ended with 0 points. UConn basically played 6 players.

I can't tell what SOME other Cardboarders are thinking, but based on recent postings, it might be one of these:
Obviously, Gino is the best WBB coach ever.
UConn's loss is all the coach's fault, and maybe it is time to look for a replacement.
