Other Games this (Long) Weekend - Austroturf - 11-26-2021

Texas, up 22-17, gets a stop on K state with 4 minutes and change left in the 4th quarter.  Maybe Sark will exit a winner.

Scott Frost and the Huskers are up 14-6 on the Hawkeyes at halftime.  Maybe he will also exit a winner.

Sark and the Longhorns win.  Texas finishes 5-7 for the year.

Might be enough to get Sark a second chance next year.

Currently watching Nebraska-Iowa.  The Huskers just got a big takeaway from the Hawkeyes inside their own 20 and are now driving.  14-6 Huskers.  But what impresses me most is that this 3-8 Nebraska team has a full house -- a sea of red in the stadium.

Nebraska just scored to make it a 2 possession game (21-6).  Iowa has inserted Spencer Petras in at QB to spark the offense, but that turnover took away all the positive momentum.

RE: Other Games this (Long) Weekend - Austroturf - 11-26-2021

Scott Frost cannot get a break.  Up 21-9 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Husker offense gets stopped and has to punt, which is blocked and returned for a TD.  21-16 with a world of time left in the game.  I have never been a Cornhusker fan, but I am starting to feel sorry for this dude and all the close calls he has had this season.  Can he still pull this one out?

Huskers just fumbled to Iowa with 12 minutes remaining.  Self-destruction.

RE: Other Games this (Long) Weekend - BostonCard - 11-26-2021

Nebraska takes a safety on an intentional grounding in the end zone, and Iowa kicks the tying field goal on the ensuing drive.

BC

And Iowa just took the lead.  In the fourth quarter it has been Iowa 18 - Nebraska 0.  Somehow Nebraska came into this as a 1.5 pt favorite.

BC

A Nebraska interception should seal the deal.  You do feel for Frost; I think the cornhuskers have lost 9 games, all by less than 10 points.

Yes, this season could easily have been 6-6 with a few breaks going their way.  They played every game tough and were never blown out. They lost to UM by 3, MSU by 3 and OSU by 9.  But 3-9 is what the record books will say.  Let's see what next year brings.  Nebraska committed to Frost and will bring him back in 2022.

RE: Other Games this (Long) Weekend - Austroturf - 11-26-2021

Utah up vs. Colorado 28-13 with a bit over 7 minutes to play.  Colorado has only 143 yards of total offense, but had a 100-yard kick-off return that accounts for over half their points.  Their offense has yet to score a TD.

While the Pac-12 South is securely in Utah's hands, the North is still up for grabs.  If Oregon beats OSU tomorrow, they win the North.  If WSU wins today and OSU wins tomorrow, the Cougs play the Utes in the Pac-12 championship game.  OSU can advance to the title game if Washington wins today and the Beavs beat the Ducks tomorrow.

NCState came back from 9 points down with under 2 minutes left by scoring on a long touchdown against a breakdown in coverage, recovers the onside kick, and then scores the go ahead touchdown with about a minute left.  Fun game.

Washington loses big and clearly finishes with the most disappointing season of any Pac team (phew).

Wazzu wins 40-13, their largest margin of victory in any Apple Cup ever. Of course, it was at Husky Stadium.

Huskies finish 4-8 after being No. 20 in the pre-season AP poll.

I don't know that UW was more disappointing than Stanford - if only because Stanford is getting crushed and looks just awful of late.  Didn't you love how the UW players were yapping after the Stanford game that they had "turned it around" and that they still had many games to win.  Don't think they won another one after Stanford . . . further revealing that Stanford is just awful.  And today on some college football show, I heard the Punditry make comments along the lines of "Notre Dame is unlucky in that they're playing lowly Stanford in their last game.  They need an opponent that has the potential to give ND a good win."

Yet another indicator of how low the program has sunk.

Well now at least the Washington State fan base will no longer be anguished and divided about Nick Rolo-who??

Now their big question seems to be should the interim coach be named the head coach.

Light snow in the Big House today.  Let's see if that takes the edge of the tOSU air attack.  I have never been a Michigan fan, but I would really like to see Harbaugh get the Buckeye monkey off his back.

Snow flurries but very little wind. It will come down to whether Michigan can run the ball and control the clock.

I usually wouldn't have a preference in this game but would like to see Harbaugh get a win here too.

What a great first drive. If Michigan can keep pounding, they will win.  Jimbos best shot so far.  His best team I think.

Indeed.  Great drive, with some excellent O-line play and a few innovative play-calls, particularly on the TD.  Well-orchestrated.

Wolverines snuff tOSU on their first drive.  3 and out.

Remember that INT.  What an awful pass.

Terrible.  With all that momentum, and then the gift back to the Buckeyes.

What a setting: The Big Refrigerator jammed, KhakiPants in a controlled frenzy, crazed crowd...As Dino would sing it, "Let it snow, let it snow let it snow!"

Gawd, I miss Football.

7-3 late in the first quarter.  UM holds OSU to a FG.
