Just saw this, and probably not a surprise, but interestingly BYU played up the captain aspect. . . .

Not close to the class of Owen Marecic, Lee Ward or Groucho Marx.

7 catches for 25 yards and 1 TD? Does that mean he never got a carry in his four years? That's a shame. They should have let him carry the ball at least once. At least he has the memory of 1 TD.

has he graduated? either way, i suppose that will make it easier for Shaw to get down to 85 scholarships.

Quote:BYU head coach Kalani Sitake today announced the mid-year additions of graduate transfer running backs Christopher Brooks from Cal and Houston Heimuli from Stanford. Both players have enrolled for winter semester at BYU.

You're wondering whether a 5th-year senior has graduated?
Also, @cardcrimson, it's not like there was much else about him to play up. I think the fact that he was a captain said a lot about last season's team.

Good for Houston. He's home. I always thought we could have used him more in a short passing game. Btw, who will now line up at FB?

I'm guessing Coco Lukrich would be favored in running situations and Shield Taylor, in spite of his name, would be favored (and I hate even referencing personnel, packages and tendencies) in situations where we might want to use a FB/TE as a receiver.

Preferably no one.

Why not Jay Symonds?

I love Symonds, but wasn't sure if he is coming back

I'd like to see news like this about fewer players and more coaches...

we have a new walk-on FB, Jacob Lowe from FL (6'2", 230lbs). from HS film, he looks to be more Lee Ward like in terms of hitting than say Groucho.
given how few times BYU used a FB last year (10 times in ~400 plays), I am surprised BYU offered him a scholarship. but good for him and being back home close to family and getting a grad degree paid for.

The scholarship limit is 85. Still more need to leave

FWIW, we also gained a captain.
