David Shaw's obligation - OutsiderFan - 01-09-2022

I'm not saying he would accept the job, but David Shaw has a duty as a responsible Head Football Coach to put a call into Vic Fangio to see if he would consider taking the Stanford Defensive Coordinator position, after being fired by the Denver Broncos.

In no way is Lance Anderson a superior Defensive Coordinator to Vic Fangio.  David Shaw has to know this, and Fangio has already coached at Stanford, for Shaw to see it first hand.

Fangio will have several NFL DC options.  No way he’d come back.

At worst Fangio will go back to being a DC in the NFL, and sadly Shaw appears completely satisfied with his entire coaching staff given that there have been no announcements about anyone taking another job or being relieved of their duties.

I thought Anderson’s contract had already been extended.  Sorry to hear about Fangio.  Tough being an NFL coach.

I can't say I'm that sorry. He will be paid the full value of his 8 figure contract. He doesn't have to work another day in his life if he so chooses, and if he does choose I'm sure that several teams would welcome him as their DC.

This is the essence of the post-game blather we suffered all year. I don't have time to track down his delusional BS. People who know, know.

What was it?

"we are four plays away"

Fangio will have multiple NFL DC offers in short order and will quickly land on his feet somewhere in the league.

Yes, he’s a great DC.  Not so much HC.  Happens quite a bit.

RE: David Shaw's obligation - Phogge - 01-09-2022

Who knows how good a HC he is. He’s had Huey, Dewey and Louie and their cousins at QB during his tenure.
