Stanford Cardinal in the Super Bowl - Bruce Wang - 02-04-2022

Two former Stanford Cardinal made the Cinati Bengos active roster this season: Trent Irwin and Michael Thomas.  Irwin's most visible role this season has been as a punt returner but he did not make the active roster during the playoffs.  Michael Thomas has played a role in this playoff run though not as obviously visible.  The Bengos offense has gotten most of the attention, but the Bengos have been playing great team defense especially during the playoffs. Lou Anarumo, the Bengos DC, switches coverages often and disguises them well.  They often play dime+ packages like quarter and even half-dollar.  This was the key to stopping the Kanssitee Cheps and Thomas played well in some key plays as one of multiple nickelbacks.

BTW no Cardinal on the LosAngis Wams if you are wondering who you should cheer for.

Always a local angle, yes! But if you stretch a penny that far you get copper wire. Go "Bengos"!

In an effort to thicken the wire, I just remembered that Troy Walters is the Wide Receivers Coach with the Bengos.  Granted that's probably the easiest job in the NFL.

Well if you watch the ESPN pregame show Sunday you might just see a certain Cardboarder interviewed for a feature piece about the history of the Disney “I’m going to...” commercial. Also God willing the same will be in the high AFC EZ shooting his 31st SB.

Looking forward to seeing the mighty Phogge

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea MT3 was still in the league.

I guess I'll be rooting for the Bengals.

Phogge, looking forward to seeing you on the other side of the camera. Sounds like John Biever and you have crossed paths over the years: featured in this SD Union article, This photographer is the only person who’s shot all 55 Super Bowls. On Sunday, he’ll make it 56

RE: Stanford Cardinal in the Super Bowl - Phogge - 02-13-2022

This will be my 31st. Last time I shot one there were four photographers who shot all. I know two of them, Johnny Iacono and Walter Iooss. Hall of Fame guys.
