Also not in the lineup for this tournament - #70 Brooke Seay who was Stanford's top finisher at the P12 Preview tournament. Pretty tough competition to get one of those 5 spots on the team.

Unfortunately, she had a triple bogie two holes later.
Stanford ended the first round with a nine hole lead over second place SJSU, finishing -8. Unfortunately, the struggled in the second round (+6) through 16 holes when darkness fell. Still the only team below par and 5 strokes ahead of SJSU, 7 ahead of ASU, and no one else is within 10.

Looks like the course is playing tougher today. Raining and in the 50s, and likely some tough pin placements.
Halfway through the final round and Stanford now trails San Jose State by 8. Rose Zhang with a triple, Angie Ye with two doubles. Yeesh.
Rachel Heck is one of only three players under par so far today.

Rachel Heck right back to last spring's form - running away from the field, including previously undefeated teammate Rose Zhang who got 4th. Angie Ye, last year's first team All American, needs to find some form pronto, or she's not going to make the starting lineup when Krauter returns and with Seay sitting out this week.
Even with today's miserable round for everybody not named Heck, Cardinal finish second in a loaded field, because all the other teams except the SJSU Spartans struggled mightily with the conditions.

Rough final round for the Lady Cardinal overall. First tournament of the year they didn't win
1. San Jose State +9
2. Stanford +12
3. ASU +20
A couple of bright spots nonetheless!
- Rachel Freakin Heck was one of only two players to shoot under par today. She birdied four of her last seven holes to separate herself from the field and win by three.
- Sadie Englemann also had a good tournament with a top 10 finish.
- Rose Zhang is human after all. Made a trip on her front nine but still finished Top 5. This was the first time she didn't win this year.
- Caroline Sturdza & Angie Ye had rounds they'd just as soon forget. Sturdza made a quintuple bogey on her second-to-last hole that extinguished any chance Stanford had of rallying back from being 8 behind SJSU with about 9 holes left. Ye made three doubles and had a rough time all three days.
- Calista Reyes had a solid finish playing as an individual in a very stacked field
1. Heck -5
T4. Zhang +1
T6. Englemann +3
T44. Sturdza +17
T67. Ye +23
T32. Reyes +12
The team has friendly match with San Jose State next Thursday at Cordevalle before going to Sacramento for their next tournament in two weeks.
