Stanford beat Ball St today 6-1 behind the pitching of Regan Krause
Coming up today is Missouri
Stanford is now 19-4.

Toughest stretch of the Cardinal's regular season in the next week IMO, starting with the two road games against Missouri.
Neutral site Northwestern, at Nebraska and then a road series at Oregon State, which showed it could be a contender
for a Top 16 seed in the non-conference.
Stanford just fell behind 2-0 in Game #1 against Mizzou.

Stanford down going into the 6th 3-0 and now it’s tied

And Stanford has already put 3 up in T8. Clutch Cardinal come through again!

A great comeback, and we keep stacking up some great non-conference wins (at Oklahoma State, #7 in RPI; at Missouri, #19 in RPI; at San Diego State; neutral site Minnesota etc.)
We have to improve our RPI (currently #40 coming into weekend) massively to have a chance at a Top 16 seed, but the way this team is performing against very good competition, this team has the quality to deserve a regional host spot.

D. How come they didn’t place a runner on 2nd in the 8th. Change of rule after all these years ?

I was wondering that too (though I am not complaining since we lost our last game to DePaul with the runner on second rule;
especially since the game apparently started almost 2 1/2 hours late, and then had a delay in T8 when the lights at the stadium
went out).
RE: Stanford Softball -

Interesting I wondered about the delay.

The rule is what I remember it was when I last looked at it about 5 years ago. At the pre-game meeting the coaches agree whether the tie breaker rule will be applied, and what inning it is applied.
6.16 Tiebreaker Rule If, after the completion of at least seven innings of play, the score is tied, the following tiebreaker may be played to determine a winning team:
6.16.1 Starting with the top of the predetermined inning (it is recommended for use beginning in the 10th inning) and each half-inning to follow, the offensive team shall begin its turn at bat with the player scheduled to bat ninth in that half inning being placed on second base (for example, if the No. 5 batter is the lead-off batter, the No. 4 batter in the batting order will RULE 6 / THE GAME 55 be placed on second base). A substitute may be inserted for the base runner. For scoring, see Rule 14.30.
6.16.2 Whether the tiebreaker procedure will be used, and when it shall be invoked, must be determined not later than the pregame meeting. Use of the tiebreaker also can be determined by conference ruling or tournament policy.

Thanks. Never realized a choice.

We just got no-hit by Northwestern's star pitcher Danielle Williams. NW is a
very good team this year, having already beaten UCLA, Oregon, and UW (probably the three top favorites in the Pac), and now Stanford.
Alana Vawter delivered a quality six inning start with only 3 runs allowed, but hard to beat near perfection from Williams.

Williams from the East Bay to boot
Missouri again today
RE: Stanford Softball -
d4cohn - 03-20-2022
Stanford falls 5-0 to Missouri to split the two game set with the Tigers in Columbia, as well as
split the four games in Missouri.
Solid weekend for the Card that will add to our resume for postseason.
Next up, a tough road contest in Lincoln against Nebraska.
RE: Stanford Softball -
BobK - 03-22-2022
Stanford ranked 25
RE: Stanford Softball -
d4cohn - 03-23-2022
Stanford had its midweek non-conference game in Lincoln canceled against the Nebraska
due to very poor and cold weather.
Unfortunately, Stanford didn't get another marquee non-conference matchup (Nebraska
would be #2 or #3 regional seed in the NCAA tourney if the season ended today,
but as of right now would probably be comfortably in the field).
However, the tough stretch of road games continues on Friday in Corvallis against a (much) improved
Oregon State team (and they gave us a series on the Farm last year).
RE: Stanford Softball -
d4cohn - 03-25-2022
Card fall in tight 1-0 contest against Oregon State to open Pac-12 play. Going to be a tough
series against the Beavs, but still time to win next two and series.
RE: Stanford Softball -
d4cohn - 03-26-2022
Stanford drops another tight contest and series against the Beavers 4-1 (was 1-1 entering B6).
Hopefully, we can salvage one tomorrow with Alana likely in the circle.
