Does anyone here subscribe to CardinalAXEcss, All Write Now, or Cardinal W? How valuable do you find them?

They are pretty much akin to Pravda and TASS, but there is sometimes good positive information there.

If I want actual insight, here is light years better.

BTS insights are best found on boards like this one.
Official announcements normally hit gostanford.com first.   That site, designed for a typical D-1 program, doesn't organize information well for a school that has several sports competing on the same day, but the information does land there before the newsletters push out notifications.
And if by chance the gostanford.com webpage lacks real time stats or sufficient in-game coverage, many of the teams have twitter feeds that provide information in almost real time.

I think I subscribed to a few of those newsletters in the past, but the algorithm determining SPAM long ago started tossing their messages in SPAM.   I haven't really missed them.

They gotta keep A.D. staff busy.  The "work" expands right along with the waistline of the payroll. Hacks churn out content so lightweight it evaporates before it hits the ground.

Stanford once had the original SID, Don Liebendorfer. A crusty, cranky Emperor of Athletics at Stanford. Effective if you could caught him on a good day. Murph learned in his shadow and was exceptional. Ditto Cavalli and Rose. Racsynski and Vasquez were princes and helped the working press greatly. Migdol knew his s*** and then the AD's made some hiring mistakes. At the end of my career I had trouble getting pretty much anything out of the university press office even though I was shooting for the most successful television show in history. Bob Byers Jack H and Mr. Lamar at the press office and Spiros and Molly at the med center were all stars and it was sad to see the replacements wither on the vine.

The literature of the U's site and its releases to season tix holders was pretty vanilla when I had the seats. All attempts to publicise the team after 1982 have been amateur IMO.

Overall the cooperation was great until the 2010's but the best university press department down through the ages has been in Berkeley. They found great stories that were easy to pitch to the network.

Lawrence Fan was an Old School SID, too, at San Jose State. So was Vic Kelly at UCLA farther back. Good, reliable, no-nonsense guys who took what they did with serious professionalism. Murph. A legend in his own time, or what! Shameless self-promoter but likable (and effective) enough to get away with it. Lost count of his "pals". More of them than any ward-heeler had in Richard Daley's Chicago.

Fan was a cool guy. We shot a story at SJS and our soundman, Al Feuerbach, mentioned that he had set the world shotput record at the SJS track way back when. Lawrence said that the track's now a parking lot but he took us on a tour of that lot and Al thought he knew where the throwing ring had been. A nice moment.

Some schools are arrogant. Among the good guys were the old-timer at Oregon State and the whole staff at Arkansas.

Among the good pro flacks were Art Santo Domingo and Bob Rose at the Giants, Jerry Walker and Rodney Knox at the Niners, the fantastic Raymond Ritter at the Warriors and the current Raider staff. Which is remarkable since the longtime Raider press guy was the all-purpose front office jack of all trades "Little Al" LoCasale who could be a nightmare.
