And I think the Big-12 got shutout

And not a single one of those was Nakobe Dean, arguably the best football player in the bunch. (Likely slid due to fetishization of combine measurements, plus perhaps being a brilliant, decent Renaissance Man doesn't appeal to some NFL teams)

The 2021 Georgia defense will go down as one of the most legendary units in the history of the sport. And it's not like it was all projection and not dominant college play. Against SEC competition and playoff competition on the way to the national championship, they gave up 10 points per game. Insane.

Would have to put it with 2011 Alabama and early 2000s Miami I think.

It's a record.

And last year Alabama had five offensive players taken in the first round.

The 2017 Alabama team has had 40 players drafted breaking the old record of 38 (set by Miami’s 2001 team).  

Yes, the Tide did win the national title that year.

A great team. Not quite as dominant as Army 1944. 504 points to 35 and beat #5 Notre Dame 59-0.

Doesn't compare to the 1901 Michigan team which beat Stanford 49-0 in the inaugural Rose Bowl. Outscored their opponents 550-0. In fact, from 1901-1905 Michigan outscored its opponents 2,821 to 42.

Defensive front seven was unreal.

My money would be on them also playing a schedule against colleges whose rosters consisted of players too young to be drafted or excused from military service due to medical conditions, as was the case during the war years when Army put together their 32 game unbeaten streak.

Of course. When teams (such as Michigan at the turn of the century, Army during WWII) put up absurdly dominant results it's usually because of unusual circumstances that inflate the numbers to ridiculous proportions, and can't be compared to modern examples such as Georgia, Miami, Nebraska etc. who competed in actual competitive environments.

Dean rumored to have a torn pec tendon as being the reason for his draft slide.  [Dean still a big whiff by Hansen & Lance.]

recall going into the 2021 season, the big question marks about UGA concerned its defense, as they had a lot of new starters (6 D players were drafted in 2021).  they are facing similar question going into 2022 after having 8 D players drafted.

meanwhile our coach speaks of appeasement to the few fans who want to see wins and/or an entertaining product on the field.

Shaw is comfortable. Doesn't ever have to sleep on his office cot. Can't imaging a university president firing Muir and Shaw at the same time. Would be career suicide. Hey but they were only a few plays away and he likes where they are now.

There is a Vonnegut line in here somewhere but I can't remember it.
