OT:Monaco F1 - Phogge - 05-30-2022
Watched the qualifying and the entire race. Cool to run on some of the same streets where we once shot a few scenes. But there are few places that allow a pass and they need to do something about it.
Sky Sports coverage is fantastic, especially the interviews on the run before the race starts. In contrast to NBC’s coverage of the 500 which has the flavor of tight sphincters among everybody there.

Glad the rain added at least some spice to what's typically a train. Modern F1 cars are just too big and close in performance to make passing on a tight track like Monaco possible.

Great race for the Mexican pilot.
Pato O'Ward almost did the same at Indy... Ended up in second place.

As a Ferrari fan, the last two races for Leclerc are very tough to take and the double DNF in Spain was brutal. In both cases Leclerc was let down by his team after winning pole in both Spain and Monaco. The car crapped out on him while leading race in Spain, and they screwed up Leclerc's tire strategy in Monaco, so abysmally it's hard to comprehend.
I don't know how much the track can be altered. DRS does nothing to help passing there because the zone is too short. So maybe for that race they could keep it open for the whole lap if you are within a second of the car in front. That might help, but the reality is the turns are so narrow there just isn't enough room to pass. Perhaps they could take out some seating to make some turns have more track width?

Perez finally is signed to continue for Red Bull.
OF, I remember searching for an out of the way bistro after a long day on set. I got lost in alleys and narrow streets and finally found a tiny place that was cheaper than anything near the casino. There were no wide streets so maybe taking out seating is all they can do but the purists would bitch. You wonder how long they can go on with the traditional course.
