Stanford in T&F World Championships -

Just came back from trials in Eugene to select the US team for the upcoming T&F World Championships -- to be held in Eugene July 15-24. Stanford is going to be well represented. Two outstanding entrants really stand out to me -- Valerie Allman and Grant Fisher. Allman, in the discus, looked fantastic, got off a a great series of throws -- three of them exceeded the best throw of the person who finished second. She looks in really good shape. She's a superstar, coming in as the 2021 Olympic champion. And Fisher looked also looked really good in the 5000, won in a meet record, strong and in great shape. He also already made the team in the 10,000, so question is will he run both, or only one, and if so, which. We'll be cheering on the US team in July, but especially looking for all the Stanford folk.

Fisher will run both. 10,000 is his better event and it's first, then 4 days until 5000 heats start. So good schedule for a double.

Great to get the other Stanford participant names. I wasn't totally focusing on getting all of them, just really hit by Allman and Fisher. But how could I have forgotten Cranny! Stanford will indeed be well represented! And I do hope that Fisher runs both the 5 and 10 k. I'll be there watching, both the first round and the finals. I love the distance events. And I really get excited watching Allman throw -- she's just so powerful and graceful at the same time. It's beauty in the ring.

Definitely a track fan!! Have been ever since I watched (on a tiny TV set with lots of snow) Bannister beat Landy in the Commonwealth Games mile in 1954 -- both of them running sub-4 min miles.

Let's not forget Elise's long-time boyfriend, Sean McGorty, in the 10,000! Fastest couple in American distance running?! Though I understand that Athing Mu and Brandon Miller are a couple, but think it's fairly new and they're only 20 so we'll see on that one. :-)
