Hailee Swain. Class of 2025. Was on campus for elite camp. Solid pickup. She’s been described as a “generational talent” in some articles I’ve seen. ESPN doesn’t have her in their top 25 for the 2025 class yet but if we also get Jazzy Davidson in that class (who is ranked #1 a the moment) would be pretty awesome. Nice to get an early commitment.

Awesome news. Here I was thinking we could have a de commit soon due to the usc ucla news. This is great news

Wow, a 2025 commit is kind of out of the blue. Especially an elite guard which is what Swain seems to be.
Here is what Brandon Clay said about her “big time guard who reminds me of a young Jordan Canada”.

Sweet! Can't think of a better time for some good news. Do we have sense of where she stands, nationally? She's not in ESPN's 2025 Top 25, and PN hasn't ranked the 2025 recruits yet. I agree she has flashes of both Canada and Kiana Williams in her (though most of her highlights seem to suggest she's more of a driving-and-passing guard like Canada than a stop-shoot-or-pass guard like Williams.

I would take that, especially since she still has time to work on her 3-pointer, which Canada still can't make.
P.S. losing USC and UCLA shouldn't make a lick of difference to WBB. They are not the powers that UofA, UO, OSU and Stanford are. Once upon a time, but not anymore.

You want rankings? Swain comes to camp last week immediately gets an offer and within a week commits. Trust Tara and the staff

Fantastic news! I know highlight videos can lie but she looks quite good in that one. Can shoot threes, mid-range, and drives well. Very fast and strong with the ball. Has a nice step back and can shoot threes off the dribble or passes.

I'm thinking the departure of USC and UCLA are going to improve Stanford and Cal's "local" recruiting because recruits are starting to understand that staying close to home is better. Most transfers, and there are a lot, tend to chose a college closer to home.
The LA schools will not be playing any teams close to California and the conference tournament will be in Minnesota. I could be wrong but I'm hoping the California recruits stay in state or at least on the West Coast.

It is going to be interesting what this does to recruiting at U$C and UCLA. I have seen predictions all over the map, so I guess nobody really knows. There are undoubtedly some So Cal kids (and kids from elsewhere) that will be attracted to U$C that previously wouldn't go there because they thought the PAC-12 wasn't good enough. OTOH there are undoubtedly So Cal kids that didn't want to go play in the snow. Those kids now have no choice, and can go to other B1G schools just as well. YMMV.

Based on her video, she reminds me of a cross between Sonja Henning and Candice Wiggins. The camera doesn't lie - she's got some quicks....

UCLA just got Kiki Rice, I'd think it'd make a fair amount of difference.

might help football recruiting. can't see how it will help women's basketball recruiting at usc and ucla. who will want to leave warm southern cal for rural Pennsylvania and ohio for 5 days every other week in the middle of winter? and it will be hell on the coaching staff.

But, then, we may also bolt for the BIG, putting us in the same recruiting situation.
