Stanford WGolf @ Evian Championships - winflop - 07-19-2022
Five current and former Stanford women's golfers are playing this week at the Evian Championship in France, one of the LPGA's five majors:
- Andrea Lee (class of 2020)
- Albane Valenzuela (class of 2020)
- Aline Krauter (class of 2022)
- Rachel Heck (junior)
- Rose Zhang (sophomore)
Lee is playing the best golf of her professional career this year, while Valenzuela has been playing well of late after struggling earlier in the year. Krauter is still an amateur, not sure when she will turn professional maybe after the summer. She, Heck, and Zhang are three of the nine amateurs playing in the event.
Rose and Albane are paired together for the first two rounds which should make it fun for both of them even though they never overlapped at Stanford.
Will be interesting to see how many make the cut after Friday's second round.

A good first round for most of the Stanford contingent:
T27. Andrea Lee -2
T39. Albane Valenzuela, Rose Zhang, and Rachel Heck -1
T97. Aline Krauter +2
Current projected cut is E, so Krauter is not out of it by any means. Just needs to play a little better tomorrow.

Second round is almost done but the cutline appears to be staying at E. Four of our five made the cut and will play this weekend.
T5. Andrea Lee -8
T22. Rose Zhang (a) -4
T30. Albane Valenzuela - 3
T54. Rachel Heck - 1
T74 (MC). Aline Krauter +1
Krauter rallied on the back nine with birdies on 15 and 18 but fell one stroke short.
Lee is continuing her stellar play this year. She started this season with only a provisional tour card (can only play selected events) but has had two top 10s and two top 25s and is currently 43rd in the season-long standings (top 60 qualify for the Tour Championship). Valenzuela is 57th so will need to play well over the final few events to make it into the Tour Championship.

A great day for the Stanford ladies. Albane Valenzuela shot the low round of the day (64) and Rachel & Rose are 1 & 2 among the amateurs - hopefully future Cardinal Anna Davis is 3rd

Mixed results in the final round but overall a good tournament for Lee & Valenzuela with top 30 finishes in a major. Valenzuela Heck & Zhang struggled, while Lee had a solid round and a top 20 finish
T15 Lee -11 (-2 today)
T27 Valenzuela -8 (+2)
T60 Heck +1 (+5)
T65 Zhang +2 (+3)
LPGA will spend the next few weeks in Europe with 3 more events. Not sure if Heck & Zhang are playing in Scotland next week with the US Women's Amateur coming up Aug 8-14 at Chambers Bay in WA.
