WBB - No Nneka on USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp roster - FOXO1 - 08-18-2022

I imagine this was Nneka's decision as her numbers this WNBA season certainly would put her among the top 28, though it's entirely possible she was interested but some other factor conflicted.
The camp is for the 2022 World Cup, so it's still possible she tries out for the '24 Olympics but my gut tells me she's moving on after what happened last year.

Conspicuously absent from this are all 3 post players from the most recent World Cup and Olympics, namely GRINER, FOWLES and CHARLES. THats a brobdingnagian collective presence to replace!

I doubt Nneka will pursue further opportunities with USA basketball. That ship has sailed and she probably still has bitter feelings about the whole ordeal and rightfully so. It is inexplicable she was left off the team. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I don't know why she would want to put herself through a potentially similar situation all over again. After Candace Parker's snub, she was done with USA basketball for good.

Nneka is representing Nigeria in all international competitions alongside Chiney and younger sister Erika.

That would be great to see, though I recall she was ruled ineligible to rep Nigeria for Tokyo bc of too much participation for USA hoops. Perhaps in sitting out this camp other USA hoops activities, she can become eligible to represent Nigeria next Olympics

Yes, I believe she was ruled ineligible for Tokyo however she has suited for Nigeria in other competitions since being left on the US roster in 2021. I'm not sure if the games were official or just warm up events but she has played some.

Since she played for Nigeria, would she now be ineligible to play for the US? If so, this is a non-issue.
