I watched the doc last night. Stanford barely makes an appearance. They show McEnroe winning the final point in the NCAA singles final and then a few seconds post-match. That's it. Stanford is never mentioned and there is no discussion of why McEnroe decided to go to college at all. We do hear a little bit from his brothers Mark and Patrick, both of whom are Stanford alums.
I did enjoy the film. The vintage footage of McEnroe's matches at Wimbledon and the US Open is fantastic. There are of course talking heads. But the most insightful comments come from footage of McEnroe's father as well as from McEnroe himself.
