Cal was jobbed twice by the refs, once for sure really badly that kept two big drives going for ND. They lead 24-17 with 4 min to go. Hope today's QB for ND starts vs Stan. Cal looks eons better than Stan on defense. And, Plummer is not great, but is a pretty good qb.

UCLA beats South Alabama on a FG as time runs out 32-31

and the crowd shots looks like the attendance was even worse than the Colgate game...
Oregon currently beating BYU 38-7

I can see why Kelly left. ND is not very good. Cal had its chances. Including a Hail Mary on the last play that fell into and out of the arms of a receiver on the ground.

Oregon is having its way with BYU. 38-7 after 3. Bo Nix (the transfer from Auburn?) having a monster game.

Yes., after bouncing off three or more players, he had it, lost it, and almost had it again while lying on his back in the end zone. Would have been surprising and very cool.

UW up 16-0 over #11 Mich St with 9minutes left 2Q.
Make that 22-0 with 8:30 to go (botched PAT snap)

Either Michigan St is really bad or Penix is gonna shred our D next weekend (or both). 29-8 Fuskies at halftime.

Man, the UW qb Penix Jr is a handful. 29-8 at the half. 278yds, 3TD.

Thinking the same thing. The more I watch of other teams on Stanford's schedule, the more I wonder where our next win will come from. Normally I'd take heart that ND sucks, but do they suck enough to lose to Stanford at home? Yes, but would I predict that? No. Then I think, oh, wait, Colorado, duh, but as fate would have it, Stanford doesn't play the lowly Buffs this season. Maybe ASU, but from where I sit right now no other team looks too beatable at this point. On paper it looks like 2-10, but that's why they play the games.

Appears to be somewhat dinged up. Cramps, hamstring, who knows. . ..

Looking at the rest of the teams on our schedule, there doesn't appear to be a single gimme. Utah, Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, Washington State and even Cal are all looking solid to very good. UCLA barely escaped disaster vs. South Alabama, and ASU was humbled by Eastern Michigan from the MAC (yes, that Eastern Michigan), so these teams are clearly beatable. The two OOC teams remaining, BYU and Notre Dame, have not lived up to their pre-season hype; and we have BYU at home. Maybe there is a W in one of these two games. 4-8 maybe? Not a single W can be penciled in.
USC was again dominant yesterday, clobbering Tedford's Bulldogs 45-17. In that game, Austin Jones racked up 110 yards rushing and scored a TD. After three games in 2022, I presume he is not regretting his decision to don the Cardinal and Gold of the Trojans, even though he has to split time with Travis Dye, who also broke the century mark for rushing yards on Saturday.

Yeah, hopefully it is not another 2016. Maybe the Huskies will suffer a let down. Washington and U$C are good examples of how fast the transfer portal can take teams from zeros to heroes. The coaching changes no doubt helped too (the transfers probably wouldn't have happened without them). Our chances against the Ducks in Eugene are now looking pretty slim, also.

Right "The coaching changes no doubt helped"
Without 5-star Offense Captain Lincoln Riley -- Troy doesn't get Caleb Williams at QB, Addison at WR, plus A.Jones and T.Dye at RB.
Riley and Williams were clearly a package deal from OKLA.

Stanford has plenty of other problems, but the transfer rule is a massive hit. Stanford can’t compete on that front. Unless there is a big change in Admin. The chances of that are slim and none. And Slim just walked out through the transfer portal.

Yeah, I think the transfer portal pretty much guarantees that mediocrity is about as well as we are going to do at this level of competition.
Hopefully I will be proven wrong some day.

I'm not ready to accept that until I see it with a completely new coaching staff.

I think I read somewhere that our only transfer, Patrick Fields, went through the normal application process to grad school, was accepted, then approached the athletic department about football. That sounds implausible; anybody know how involved the football staff was in his coming to the Farm?
