OT: Brett Favre - Nan3cy - 09-22-2022

Saw an article this morning about a scheme in which $6.1 million in funds meant for welfare payments to the poorest of the poor in Mississippi (max family income for a family of 3 was less than $700/mo to be eligible) instead went to build a volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi. Favre is an alum and his daughter was on the USM volleyball team. Over a million of these funds were payments to Favre for PSA’s that he never made. Just an amazing story. My brother is a die-hard who thought Favre was the greatest thing since sliced bread until his “will I retire or not, or maybe go play for the Vikings” routine. Don’t know if he’s heard about this business or not.

Football star turns out to be genuinely bad guy. Dog bites man.

Yep, maybe he was taking cues from his friend, the ex potus.

Please keep the politics out. Imagine if a Reactionary Prisoner of the Moment posted the above, he or she would be banned for life. . . .

Thanks for the reminder, card crimson.

Favre, the governor, and the other crooks in this sordid scheme should go to prison.

One need not take cues from anyone when a POS all on their own. FPOTUS has no actual friends anyway.

I used to really like Brett Favre even though he was kryptonite to the Niners for several years. Loved his passion for the game, how he played it, and his authenticity.

But time wounds all heels as they are revealed.

I feel like a member of the tiny minority who can separate the performances of athletes and entertainers from their personal proclivities, politics, woke-ism or lack thereof.  I don't care, even the least little bit, about any of those things. I've met a few of them and have been almost universally disappointed, not surprisingly.

Fred Gwynne, who actually graduated from Harvard, was asked his opinion on a political issue by a reporter, and responded (paraphrased) that actors live in a world of make-believe and their political opinions shouldn't be heard, respected or followed.  Smart man.

Wise advice, Mick.  In the immortal words of Charles Barkley, “I’m not a roll model”.

If only he knew what a “yute” is…..

“Print the legend.” From “Who Shot Liberty Valance.”

Then came Watergate. Thank God.

I can overlook a lot, but I have limits.  R Kelly?  I never need to hear Ignition again.  There are other songs.

10 points for Gwynne's southern accent as the judge in that flick.  Pesci's New Jersey accent was completely natural.

I know it's hard for you, but can we please refrain from political commentary. . . .

Love that movie…..

RE: OT: Brett Favre - TrumpCard - 09-23-2022

I’m relieved that my criticism of R Kelly was not the subject of concern. At least some opinions are still apolitical.

RE: OT: Brett Favre - BostonCard - 09-23-2022

Time out. Card crimson asked nicely.
