I'm not going, but only because the players don't deserve the boos I would be belting out at the top of my lungs if I did. I feel terribly for them. They deserve better from their coaches and their Athletic Director

I think everyone needs to add MTL to the list of people who need to go, he is number one in my book.

That's simply not realistic. Athletic Department performance has little to do with his performance. Same for Drell.
I'm staying focused on what is possible, which is Muir and Shaw.

“Who says you can’t fire the University President. We have men in the newspapers Tom. A president who doesn’t know the score, a president who thinks that a turnover is better flaky, a president who lines his garbage cans with rejected applications of running backs.
“Mikey, come on.”
“A president who won’t drink Tonga Juice. That’s a great story. It might make a difference.”
“It might, it just might.”

I think you are living in a bubble if you think that the University President or Provost’s job approval is remotely based on what a bunch of message board fans express about the football program. At best, the BoT might be able to express some dissatisfaction and tell MTL to “do something” about it and the pressure can role downhill.
MTL’s job is dependent on the school’s financing overall, fundraising, the school’s academic reputation, not having any major scandals, and not pissing anyone off.

Yes, in a literal sense, there are a few scores of alumni that are pissed off, but they pale in comparison to the thousands of alumni who DGAF, or, at best are vaguely aware that Stanford’s football team is not very good.

The current Stanford football environment is hampering the players' ability to develop and putting many of them at physical risk. Kind of the opposite of what Stanford is all about. If the University doesn't force a change, shame on them.

So BC, are the scores of people at tailgates just there for the white wine, crab dip, polite conversation and a day in the sun? I’ve always thought that if you weren’t good at something either make it better or just bail. I was shitty at cocktail parties, math, sucking up, swimming, carpentry and making nice with my asshole parish priest so I bailed on all those things. Why have football if it doesn’t work. Oh yeah, it supports all the country club sports. I don’t like country clubs either (I prefer Munis) so I have nothing to do with them.
As a new world dawns on college athletics how can an institution who thinks of itself as a one of a kind Zanadu be satisfied with one of the absolute worst programs in the country? 0-0 is a lot better than 1-11.

You just ticked off the job description that has EVERYTHING to do with the "CEO" of the university. Unchecked devolution of athletics--spelled F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L will roll straight to MTL's desk. Can't happen soon enough.
