Fabulous!

RE: McCaffrey’s first SF TD - CardinalSagehen - 10-30-2022

Reminded me of the Pac-12 Championship Game in 2015!

RE: McCaffrey’s first SF TD - Austroturf - 10-30-2022

In the meantime, he has a receiving and a rushing TD.  Niners up 24-14 vs. the Rams.

Just like in the 2015 Pac-12 title game when Stanford beat an opponent from Los Angeles.

Exactly, with the difference that Hogan caught McCaffrey's TD pass.  It would have been cool if Jimmy G had caught the TD pass from CMac.

He’s a pretty good football player.

RE: McCaffrey’s first SF TD - TonyLima - 10-30-2022

The offense trifecta.

Let's not forget that in the same game Kevin Hogan also threw a TD pass, caught a TD pass and ran for a TD.

Yes, in the presser, Shaw was wondering whether two players had ever done that in the same game before.  Nobody gave him an answer.  Anybody know?

That performance certainly humbled all the fools who thought trading draft picks "for a RB" was not worth it because they are all interchangeable in football, and Shanahan's offense more specifically, those who convinced themselves the RB position doesn't produce more based on the individual talent of whoever is playing the position. These people who had concluded the RB position in the NFL is the only position in sports where talent doesn't make a big difference in production, really must be feeling dumb today.

More to the point, Christian McCaffrey isn't "just a RB," as much as an offensive weapon. All anyone had to do was watch the 2015 Pac-12 CG and Rose Bowl to see that clearly. It's why the guy was taken #8 overall. Nobody has come into the NFL with McCaffrey's ability since he was drafted, and I frankly don't see anyone in college now who can do what he does either.  So given you can't draft a guy who can do what he can, how do the draft picks matter if you think his ability can help you win more than the players you would draft?

My thoughts exactly! "I've seen this somewhere before" LOL

He makes everybody around him look better. Including his coach and general manager.  Superstud leader by example. And an artifact reminder of what Stanford football used to be. Dude is ELECTRIC.

McCaffrey is certainly special. Interesting though that Tim Ryan expressed a little concern over CMac putting the ball on the carpet, twice. Ryan made the comment during the first TD drive of the second half, where CMac had fumbled early and Wilson was making a significant contribution to matriculating the ball down the field. Ironically, his comment came a play or two before CMac's TD catch. . . .

I'm old enough to remember when more than a few NFL Draft analysts insisted that the most suitable comparison for McCaffrey was Danny Woodhead.

I remember the clip in which Stephen A. Smith (who is not someone I watch regularly), before the draft, defended CMac, saying that people were underestimating him because he was white.

That is not common.  He seldom fumbles.

Well, I remember more than a few on Stanford boards saying he would be best suited as a slot receiver.

Now that's funny! I'm old enough to remember his first play from scrimmage in Cardinal & White. Lined up in the slot against UC Davis, took a short pass in stride and like a bolt of lightning went right into the end zone. I remember my wife and I looking at each other and saying, "Damn he's really really fast"

I still think that. Keep him healthy.

Except at the time it was floated cause they felt he wasn’t going to be a quality NFL RB.  Which, of course, he’s proven to be wrong.
