Women 5K Dudek 15:40 # 3 all time at Stanford, Jenks 15:42 # 5 and Dadamio 16:09 which was before today just 2 seconds off # 10

Wow, they are recruiting like crazy. How common is the sub 4 minute mile now? Does that deserve a feature article somewhere?

Since I remember the first one ever I have always thrilled by a four minute mile
But now 20 different Stanford runners have broken 4 minutes indoors :)

Back in the day a sub 4 min mile was really something. I remember as a student sitting in the old stadium watching Ernie Cunliffe try to run a sub 4 min mile, this was like around 1960. As I recall he missed by less than a second. It is amazing what time and better training and better understanding of the training can do.

Cunliffe always appeared stockier than the other distance runners.

The 20u national Cross Country Championships were won today by two of our incoming Frosh. Leo Young and Irene Riggs. The will run in the worlds in Australia where the winner was Amy Brundage. Yes another coming Stanford Frosh.

Santos is the Men’s distance coach and that recruiting is outstanding
Clark is the women’s distance coach recruiting even better if that’s possible
