I believe this is the first incoming undergraduate transfer of the portal era.
We’ve had undergraduates transfer before, but (someone correct me), is this the first one since Chase Beeler?

does anyone know if he's been admitted?
RE: Landmark transfer -
BobK - 12-25-2022
We have had many many undergrad transfers over the years
I think however Rueland was the last or Beeler for football
RE: Landmark transfer -
SamuelMcF - 12-25-2022
Reuland (2008) was the year after Beeler (2007), so he was the most recent.
I have no idea how transfer admissions work now that we can actively recruit them.

Brendan Scarlett was a grad transfer?

Has he had his physical?? :)
If admitted, a great sign. Although I know nothing about him. That door has to be an entrance as well as an exit….

3 days ago he got an NIL endorsement from Miami Auto Collection. Does that go away?

I wonder when he started working on his application to transfer? I would think that it would take some time to actually apply assuming he has to supply all the same materials as a regular transfer applicant which includes:
- Common Application
- $90 nonrefundable application fee or fee waiver request
- ACT or SAT test scores (refer to testing optional for 2022–23; refer to testing for score reporting policies)
- Official high school transcript (should include your graduation date). Visit our Transcripts and College Report page for information about equivalent documents you may submit.
- Official transcript(s) from every college/university attended
- College Report (a form completed by a school official that provides information about your standing at your current or most recent institution)
- Letters of recommendation from two academic instructors
as getting some of these in a few days would be challenging

Anyway you cut it, he’s the first undergraduate transfer in 15 years and the first of the portal era, so a landmark one way or another. Honestly not sure how I feel about it. Hope it works out academically.

Better if he had a NIL from Grant Theft Auto.

Two other linebackers who were offered by Stanford as part of the 2021 class are in the portal:
Ethan Calvert signed with Utah; per Utah website he achieved a 4.00 gpa after his freshman year.
Julien Simon signed with USC; made Pac 12 academic honor roll with a 3.87 gpa.

Do Stanford recruits typically announce before being admitted?
RE: Landmark transfer -

Dale Rubin was a transfer from Cal back in the 60’s.
RE: Landmark transfer -
BobK - 12-25-2022
I thought Rubin was Cal to JC to Stanford
On any case he became a lawyer then a law professor.

Both are being looked at.

Please don't quote SI. It's a blog.

i think it's quite common for our guys to commit verbally before being admitted, but sometimes they wait.
