TCU/Big Blue -

Holy cow! The second half is a track meet. Wolverines are gambling an D trying to catch up. Two very entertaining QB’s.

Raise your hand if you had Michigan giving up 51 points to TCU.

Michigan scores and narrows the gap to a TD.
Interesting that this is a match up between a former Cal coach and a former Stanford coach.
BC
Well, that ending sucked.

I was talking with my cousin, an Old Cal Blue, at the end of the game. I asked about Dykes and Cal. “Had no talent.” I hope they win it all.

So for the record,
Harbaugh's biggest college bowl win as a coach remains his win in the Orange Bowl while the coach at Stanford.
At Michigan he has a Citrus Bowl win and a full collection of bowl losses. That might be OK for some mid-tier BigTen team, but for the winningest program in college football that likely is not quite ideal. Obviously two CFP losses are not that bad, but still not a lot of joy in Ann Arbor in late December or January with JH.
FWIW - The BigTen is awfully good at losing CFP games. Can't wait for the Pac-12 to finally get invites when the CFP expands.

Michigan lost because they “Shaw’d it” in the red zone in the first half.
Losing Corum really hurt.

two INTs for two TDs also did not help their cause...
if you told UM they would score 45 I think most would think they win going away....
if you told TCU they would give up 45 they would not have been very optimistic....
the O/U was "only" 56...

Ruled down on the one and then fumbling on the next down hurt them.

Would be even more galling if tOSU beat Georgia. Upset alert: they are up 21-7.

Ohio State has a leaky defense but Stroud is playing out of his mind mid-second quarter. Another 50-49 type game, I think.

Two INTs for TD’s. A fumble on the one. An absurd 4th down play call from the 2 on the first drive of the game. Got KILLED when they blitzed. But kept blitzing. Gave up big punt return.
They lost cause they shat all over themselves. Better team doesn’t always win.
Shaws gone. Can we just move on….. And frankly, I don’t get the analogy. It’s not as if they ran a bunch of fades inside the 5

and we now know the Horned Frogs' opponent. it's the Bulldogs of Georgia.
if only Ohio State had Joshua Karty........

Two tremendous games. Feel for the OSU kicker. At least it was a long kick.
Defense ?
I’d make 3 rule changes. 1. Move hash marks to NFL hash. 2. Can’t block downfield on passes behind line. 3. When pass is underthrown and receiver goes thru DB, no PI.

Well, the B1G went 0-2. Nice comeback by Georgia to take the lead with a minute, but that left too much time. They should have bled more time off the clock when they got to the 15, and gave tOSU a chance to win with a field goal, but alas, the 50-yard field goal was short and wide. Karty makes that in his sleep.
Gotta say, the two semifinals were pretty fun, though what the hell happened to the defense? 179 total points across the two games. O/U was 56 and 61 points.

Ohio State way too conservative after the big Stroud run put them in fringe FG range.
I have no real feelings either way about the OSU-Mich. rivalry, but it would have been funny to see OSU fans exultant after their soul crushing loss to Michigan just a few weeks ago. Would have been a hell of a reversal.
The Georgia defense isn’t fully healthy but I definitely expect a 40-20 sorta rout over TCU in the championship game.
Happy New Year, peoples.

OSU threw on second and third. How is that conservative?

I think there were 20 TDs scored by the offenses in the two CFP semi-finals today.
By comparison, LSJU scored 23 TDs on offense this season (not counting Colgate).
On to 2023!

Can’t see Georgia giving a game away like Michigan did. I see a blowout coming.

You could be right. Then again, I thought Ohio State vs Georgia might very well be a blowout.

Not a Sunny Dykes fan, but go Frogs.
Interesting watching a Pac10 crew hand the game to Georgia. You had one job Buckeye kicker....
