Easily handled Cal today without using the full roster. Briones is back. Long time until NCAA's. Guys need to wait and peak for that meet.

It’s almost silly how loaded and talented this team is. To score 410+ with watered-down routines and counting some falls is ridiculously good. And that’s without many of their star gymnast.
Glad to see Brandon Briones back.

Stanford won the Rocky Mountain Open with a score of 420.100, almost 10 points higher than the second place team, Oklahoma.
Just like last weekend, some of the routines being performed are watered-down. Colt Walker and Brody Malone have yet to make their season debut. It will be fascinating when Stanford puts their 5 best gymnasts for each apparatus on the lineup.

Stanford loses to #2 Oklahoma in Norman
Quote:Stanford competed without the services of a handful of gymnasts on Saturday night – including Riley Loos, Brody Malone, Colt Walker, Taylor Burkhart and Khoi Young who have all spent time competing with the U.S. Senior National Team.

Hey akiddoc, what should we make of this?

Nothing to see here folks. Don’t panic.

Agreed. All of the gymnasts that missed the meet should be back soon and well before NCAAs. I think it's impressive we still put up a 413.8 while missing several of our top gymnasts. For comparison, 413.8 was our second highest score of the season and was higher than any other score this season other than Oklahoma's yesterday.

Multiple guys prepping for Winter Cup, which determines who is on the national team. Over half the national team is currently on Stanford's team, and continuing that is more important to the guys than beating Oklahoma in a dual meet.

did OK have anyone missing?

Looks like Benas and Gamboa both competed but limited. Benas only on floor and Gamboa competed in 2 apparatuses

Per social media posts, Brody Malone suffered a serious knee injury while competing with the national team in Germany.

All I can tell you is that Malone competed on high bar, the last event and aced it. No fall on the landing or sign of pain.

That was the team final yesterday. Today was the event finals. I did some digging and while I'm not tech savvy enough to post the video, if you go to the livestream from today at
https://www.enbw-dtbpokal.de/live/ Brody's routine starts around the 3:22 mark and he has a terrible injury on the dismount.

I know almost nothing about college gymnastics. I always thought the only thing that matters is the score. Winning or losing in a dual event or a tri-meet is irrelevant.

Thanks for finding a link. I hope he has a speedy recover. Seems unlikely that he'll back back this year unfortunately.
Even with Malone out, I still think we're the big favorite for the NCAA championship this year.
