Football - old spanish trail - 04-21-2023

Football Spring Showcase tomorrow at 1pm.  Pac 12

RE: Football - OutsiderFan - 04-22-2023

Can anyone on this board name 22 starters on O and D off the top of their head? The only player I know will start is Josh Karty.

I used to be able to name a 2-deep off the top of my head. Thank you Stanford and fans on the Cardboard for freeing me of the burden that comes with caring about Stanford Football, by not talking about it or making me care about it in any way.

I’ve never in all my time on this board seen nary a post about practices leading up to the final Spring whatever we call it now. It would only be appropriate to ignore today’s events too.

Nope! Zero practices have been open.

RE: Football - BobK - 04-22-2023

Easy enough for a 10 minute stroll around the practice field.

Did anyone go? I had it on TV while doing other things. Super dull, not much going on.

RE: Football - BobK - 04-22-2023

I was there. 1-2 then softball spring games are boring.
The first of Harbaugh’s was boring but alway loved the Kezar Pub
That said good to see people and watch the drills

You didn’t miss much. I arrived at 1:20, before the TV broadcast started, and that was the only time I saw 11-on-11 scrimmaging (without tackling to the ground).  I saw 2 or 3 series and then nothing more than drills after 1:30.

In the scrimmaging and drills, I would say that Daniels was accurate and Patu generally was not. They received equal time.

RE: Football - marchballer - 04-22-2023

I attended. Overall, a fairly dull affair. It was a good reminder that we don’t have much star power or stand out players. Will be interesting to see who steps up in the fall.

Will it really be interesting? No word more comprehensively defines Stanford Football now better than dull.

Yes.

It certainly won’t be dull come September. Will you watch?

I would lean toward being interested to see what it looks like, and take in the "new car" smell. But nobody is doing anything to increase my interest beyond my own natural curiosity.

After a 10 win season, blowing out Florida (30-3) in the Vegas Bowl, beating Oregon -- Beavs hosted >30,000 at Rizer for Spring Game.
Granted, not as much going on in Corvallis -- but Beavs had more fans at their Spring Game than we did at our season games.
And their Defense looked more ready than their Offense.  Portal transfer from CLEM DJU looked rough, lost at times.
QB Chiles was surpringingly agile.   That program is rising.

Oregon State loss the first team Pac 12 linebacker Omar Speights to the transfer portal, he now a project starter at LSU.

RE: Football - CowboyIndian - 04-23-2023

I went. My favorite take was the speedy and efficient pace of the practice (and it WAS just a practice).
Least favorite: lots (and lots) of drops by receivers. Ashton Daniels looked more the part than Patu, but at least AP has put on some pounds and looks like a football player.

Also in the least favorite category...angry old men in red vests. There are signs all over the place asking "How are we doing?" and I would say, "Quit doing that!"

Were there any receivers that impressed you?
