WWP - MPSF finals on Sunday -

In addition to golf, tennis, beach volleyball, softball and baseball happening this weekend, Stanford is also competing in the MPSF women's water polo tournament. To no one's surprise, the final will be Stanford vs USC tomorrow at 2:30 pacific.

Should be an interesting game. Each team with one win, though Stanford's wasn't as dominant. On the other coast, Harvard shocked Michigan in the semis and will face Princeton in the finals of the CWPA tomorrow.
On a recruiting note, neither of the two best goalies in the class of 2024 are headed our way. Lauren Steele is headed to UCLA and Talia Fonseca is headed to Cal. Fortunately, Christine Carpenter, probably the best from 2023, is Stanford bound. Rosalie Hassett, a standout player from Miramonte, announced as I was typing and is headed to Cal as well (no shocker as her mom and dad were both Cal athletes). Don't think Stanford's announced any for 2024 yet.

The game is at 2:30 PM at SJSU so it is easy for those near Stanford to attend. To watch it on streaming video will cost you $30.
To remind you, Stanford beat USC at Irvine 11-10 on Feb. 26. USC beat Stanford at USC 17-12 on April 8 (it was 12-11 going into the 4th quarter.)
Those are the only losses for either team.
The winner of the game will be seeded #1 at nationals (Stockton, May 12-14), while the loser will be seeded #2

12-7 Stanford with just over a minute to play. Big day for the team. Aria Fischer with four so far

And that was the final score. Some, uhh, interesting calls in the 4th quarter, including an ejection of the Stanford goalie for being near a player who faked fouls throughout the game, plus a penalty shot awarded to USC because the Stanford player was not out of the playing field within a few seconds. But those calls and more didn't get USC back into the game.
The only unpleasant part was having to sit next to a couple of USC fans.... well, until the end of the game.

Nice win, I assume this means we avoid having to play USC/UCLA till the finals in the tournament, but correct me if I'm wrong. Assuming that's the case, that makes life a lot easier.

I don’t think either Stanford or USC would have trouble making it to the NC match no matter what they are seeded.
This win does suggest that Stanford will win the next time they meet but that is by no means certain.
