The conference of champions is 12-0 - Snorlax94 - 09-03-2023

Through Saturday night, the Pac-12 (soon to be Pac-2) is 12-0 by a margin of 562-227 highlighted with wins overall former cfp-runner up #17 TCU, Boise State, Florida, San Jose State, Hawaii, Colorado State and Nevada.

Have to admit I am pretty curious to see a game with Coach Deion. Wouldn’t it be bittersweet and ironic if the Pac-12 was the most exciting, most talked about conference to watch this year.

With so many star players — maybe 5 H-man candidates — and exciting new coaches, and with the WGA-SAG strikes bringing scripted television to a standstill, this could be the Pac-12 and the Pac-12 Network’s biggest year ever. I have been watching way more college football than in recent years — especially the Pac-12 — and I am curious to see whether my viewing patterns are representative.

Oregon State opens at San Jose State today.

To my utter shock, this game is on CBS, and will be seen be the whole country on over the air TV. Has a SJSU home game ever been on over the air TV?

USC and UCLA should be flogged into oblivion for killing the Pac. Just staggering selfishness and lack of trust in who were suppose to be your partners.

Quote:The last time SJSU had a regular season home game televised nationally anywhere was in 2005 on ABC against Nevada.
...
Jack Elway was the head coach of the Spartans the last time they were seen on CBS during the regular season — a 35-31 win over Stanford and Elway’s son, Cardinal quarterback John Elway.

The 35-31 loss was in 1982 and it was a strange year. The week after that loss we went back to Columbus and beat Ohio State. A few games later we upset Washington when I think they were ranked #1 in the nation. Then we lose the last three games to go 5-6.

Yes, 1982 was a truly weird year.  Stanford once had the reputation of being a kind of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team.  You never knew which team would show up on any given Saturday.  The one that would lose to SJSU or the one that would win against #2 Washington and then fail to gain bowl eligibility on that sham Play vs. the Bears?  Even the eventual Rose Bowl champion squad of 1971 managed to lose to SJSU at home.
