This has to be a mistake. Since when has Notre Dame ever played a game not available nationally? The Pac-12 network isn't even available in South Bend, Indiana or surrounding areas, is it?

That photo is beautiful.

I, too, am pretty surprised that this game lands on the Pac for what I believe to be its last ever football broadcast.

Is this an omen that the Stanford-ND series will not continue?

RE: kick-off vs ND 4pm PT on Pac-12N - CowboyIndian - 11-13-2023

I love the fact that ND fans will never be able to find this game! That should make for some fun internet content. LOL!

My friend Rip van Winkle and I would like to know what happened to ND's contract with NBC?

NBC broadcasts NDs home games and the contract is still going strong although NBC can put some games on
Peacock. ND can get back at Stanford for this slight by putting the 2024 game (the last one scheduled)
on Peacock. Tit for tat.

I doubt they put the 2024 game on Peacock, as I'd thing they would put games there to entice people to subscribe to Peacock...

This announcement says as much or more about Notre Dame than Stanford. The other P12 broadcast partners passed on televising this game which relegates it to the P12N.

ESPN could have televised the game. Instead, they took Cal vs. UCLA.
Fox could have televised the game. Instead, they took WSU vs. Washington.

Stanford is not a draw, but apparently neither are the Irish.

ESPN is showing Cal at UCLA but they are putting it in the 7:30pm window, which would be even more
unacceptable for Notre Dame (and whatever Stanford fans show up).

You may have a point. I looked at start times for Stanford vs. ND in odd years (i.e., at Stanford the Saturday after Thanksgiving) going back to 2009. The game never started after 5 pm. That may be a result of Notre Dame influence or it may be that ABC/ESPN and Fox want to broadcast an Irish game that the East Coasters can watch in prime time. But Notre Dame's appeal seems to have waned since both ABC/ESPN and Fox passed on carrying the game this year.

Also, my understanding was that the Pac12 Network did not always choose last. It is possible they picked second or third this week.

It looks like the Arizona and Utah games that week have not yet been picked up.

Indeed it has waned. The Irish fans are disillusioned. The 7-3 record means no "good" bowl. Sam Hartman, who was supposed to lead them to success, basically failed in every "difficult" game. (Not my words, ND fan website words). He should be benched so they can give their other QBs experience for next year. Oh, and they don't like their coach either :-).  Stanford's record is not impressive. Plenty of reason to not watch this game on TV.

The only reason USC and UCLA is on ABC is Caleb Williams. Otherwise, what a dreadful game. Cal and Stanford will be more competitive, IMO.

The second largest market in the country is the reason SC/UCLA is always the preferred game (over any other western choices) on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Of course, on the same day, Michigan/Ohio State will probably be the highest rated game of the season….

It wasn't Sam Hartman's fault that Notre Dame had 10 men on the field on defense for Ohio State's final play......

True. However many of the ND fans would say the fact that play even mattered was that ND "only" threw for 73% as many yards as Ohio State did. The play calling was not Sam Hartman's responsibility, but expectation was that he would bring the ND passing game to a "new level". He didn't.

Obviously in this game ND was playing a bit conservative to keep the Ohio State offense off the field as much as possible. However, ND needed to score points while doing this. The strategy was that the run game would open up the opportunities to throw for "chunk" yardage. It didn't. Sam Hartman didn't lose the game for ND, but in the fans eyes (unfairly or not) he was there to win it for them. He didn't. They were 9-3 last year with what was considered "substandard" QB play. They will likely finish 9-3 this year. Not what the fans expected.

Yep.  My comment should have been two paragraphs.  One referencing the games this weekend (Stanford/Cal and SC/UCLA) and the other referencing the games the following weekend (Ohio St./Michigan and ND/Stanford)
