Update on portal? - qwerty49 - 01-03-2024

My apologies if this info is posted elsewhere but can one of our resident gurus provide an updated list of who we’ve lost to the portal (grad vs undergrad) and who, if any, we’ve gained?

So far it seems to me our biggest losses are Yurosek, Moi and Gilman.

The winter transfer portal window is now closed. Players will not be able to declare their intent to transfer again until the spring window opens on April 15. But those who are currently in the portal can decide where they are going (or decide to stay at their current school) at any time.

Lots of movement still to come across the board. Stanford will almost certainly pursue players. But we will likely never hear about outreach that is unsuccessful.

Actually the portal is closed only for undergrads. Not grads like Gilman

USC lost a 5 star QB, 19 year old Malachi Nelson, to Boise State through the portal. BSU lost 35-22 to UCLA in the LA Bowl. They return the MWC's Offensive Player of the Year, RB Ashton Jeanty. They'll play Oregon and Oregon St. and should contend for the 12 team playoff next year.

In my view Smith was a tad over-heralded. He made Barry Sanders Jr. look like Christian McCaffrey.

I’m at presently 87 scholarship players for the coming season

80 on scholarship to start plus 24 incoming Frosh (note 6 incoming are now
On campus)
6 undergrads transferring
2 out of eligibility
3 retired all 3 graduating
1 Karty declared for the draft
4 grad transfers
I believe Bank gone if so

What might happen if the count stays at 87? Pull scholies from 2 5th or 6th year guys? Are there other options?

Bob's numbers currently include 0 incoming transfers to Stanford for next season. At least none announced so far.

In contrast, Cal has 9 incoming, Virginia has 11 (including former Stanford OL Drake Metcalf), Duke has 4 and Louisville has 23 incoming transfers so far for 2024. However Clemson is right with Stanford at 0.

Stanford article from Dec 20 listed 23 incoming frosh to attend Stanford this year.
Commit #24 was apparently Zak Yamauchi who is going on a mission before attending Stanford.
Unless I missed something and a new attending frosh #24 was added since then?

Yamauchi has been on a mission for a year and will continue. So he’s a 2025 commit

Yes agree is a disappointing loss. Of the few I most hoped would return, he was one of em.

Just picked up 2 transfer commitments today. Jaivion Green, DB from Washington, and Jahsiah Galvan, ILB from Northern Iowa (was previously committed to Wisconsin). That'll do for some much needed depth at those positions.
