His ol' man is looking down with a sh!t-eatin' grin, quaffin' a brewski. Congrats, BB. You earned it, big time. A five-year deal in the Big 12!

Arizona is hoping/expecting Fifita and McMillan to stay.
Looks like most offensive coaches are going to UW.

Didn't Chubba Purdy just commit to SJS? That's gotta suck. . . .

I hope Chubba does well. It's hard to tell if he regressed at Nebraska...he had better stats at Florida State in 2020 and 2021 as a backup, backup QB than he did at Nebraska. Perhaps he'll get a true shot at SJSU. Senior QB Cordeiro did well and graduated. The only other QB who has thrown a pass is Jay Butterfield, reasonably highly recruited, four star/top 300 prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports. He did pretty well against #18 Oregon State. Chubba is a considerably better runner. Incidetnally, Chubba was Academic All Big 10, and on the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor role for three consecutive semesters. Chubba was also a four star prospect at Perry HS. Should be an interesting QB competition.
The end of this COVID extra year era can't come fast enough for me.

Turns out he
did decide to change his mind after all and committed to Nevada today. Purdy had also considered Cal. The Wolf Pack has four returning quarterbacks and three of them are on scholarship. Nevada was 2-10 last year.

Brennan hired Duane Akina as his defensive coordinator.

Akina was already there. Retaining him was politically a plus, as he is well liked at UofA.

By the way, this is an unmitigated disaster for SJSU, which has been struggling to rebuild a program. Each time they get some success and some stability, their coach moves on and the program flounders again. The last time was Mike McIntyre, before they cycled through two losing coaches before finding Brennan. Brennan was a local, growing up in Mountain View, and it was hoped he might "settle down" for a long career close to family.
Another thought. Not sure if he would have been a fit for Stanford, but Stanford sure would have been a fit for him.

Akina had already agreed to join Sark's staff at Texas (also politically a plus for Texas), and was likely offered the DC job to get him to change his mind.

I didn't know that. Isn't it a bit strange that Akina wanted the DC job? I thought he was not interested in the hassle involved and just wanted to coach DBs. He certainly seemed senior enough to have had a DC job long ago if he wanted it.

Yes, but in an analyst role (though I don't know exactly what that entailed).

No faith in Ken Niumatalolo? He did very well for most of his time at Navy and spent the past 'gap year' as a low-profile assistant at UCLA learning the new NIL-driven football landscape. I could be way off base with the following prediction but I think Niumatalolo returns to his winning ways and the Spartans don't miss a beat.
