Stanford Men’s Basketball 2024-25 - BobK - 03-27-2024

Given the Press Conference with Kyle Smith is today let’s leave Haase behind and move on. I’m very interested in recruiting. Both potential and our current players in the portal plus Angel

3 of the Top 20 players on this list are from Stanforrd.  The #1 player, Malik Mack, is at Harvard.  If Smith can keep the 3 and convince Mack to come here, Stanford could be back in business fast.

I’d give my left nut for that far fetched possibility to happen.
Already gave away right nut for the WBB OT win over Iowa State. But hey I can order a replacement on Amazon right?

There are some fake nuts floating around out there...so be careful. You don't want any misfires!

Bob, you mention Angel.  Is there still a grad school or other possibility in play to keep him?  I thought that was closed . . .

RE: Stanford Men’s Basketball 2024-25 - BobK - 03-28-2024

Angel is in Cancun with special person. I’m hopeful but no info

I have followed Stanford BB for a long time. All I can say at this point is: "Good grief! WTF is happening?"

lol that was fast. We going to field 3 walk-ons next year?

RE: Stanford Men’s Basketball 2024-25 - BobK - 04-02-2024

Trent Perry just decommitted from usc. He had considered Stanford Ranked # 26

FWIW, this was going to happen even if Haase had stayed (which would've made it worse).

RE: Stanford Men’s Basketball 2024-25 - PVTree - 04-02-2024

Trent Perry, a Burger, decommitted from U$C after Enfield's departure and is looking for a new home.

He supposedly had Stanford among the finalists along with Zags, Quackers, Colorado, and TCU.

Perhaps coach Smith can reel in his first MickeyD.

Agree. It was gonna be a rebuild anyway. One could argue is a bigger rebuild now than if status quo left alone. But that's like arguing about the relative advantages of one level of Dante compared to the next adjoining one. Either way is a long climb out. And for leading that climb, I'm much more confident and optimistic having new coach Kyle lead that effort.

First commit in the Smith era

RE: Stanford Men’s Basketball 2024-25 - PVTree - 04-06-2024

I hope he pays more attention to coach Smith's playbook than his older brother's, Barney, playbook.

After all, it's not legendary unless your friends (fans) are there to see it. 8^)

more on him

Quote:Evan Stinson // Forward // 6-7 // 185 // Cheney, Wash.
Evan Stinson is a 6-foot 7-inch small forward from Cheney, Washington, and ranked as the second-best 2024 recruit in the state of Washington. Stinson enters his senior season at Cheney High School, looking for redemption after missing most of last winter with a broken foot. He returned to the court this spring and competed with Dan Dickau's Spokane Elite AAU team.

"We're very fortunate to have Evan as part of our program," Coach Smith said. "He gives us a local guy who has a chance to be a really good player. He's long, rangy, and can play in the backcourt or frontcourt. He's a true Coug."

Stinson ultimately chose WSU over Utah State, San Francisco and Eastern Washington, but selected the Cougs in part thanks to family connections. Stinson's aunt is current WSU Head Volleyball Coach Jen Greeny, who herself set the WIAA 2B scoring record as a high schooler.

As a sophomore, Stinson was a first-team all-league selection in the Greater Spokane League, averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. The Cheney native will become the seventh Washington-born student-athlete on the Cougar basketball roster.
